Honestly, I think the A11 will be significantly more powerful over the A10X.
That is generally the pattern...

This is just going to leapfrog the competition, I think this whole iPhone X is going to just leapfrog the entire competition. I'm really looking forward to Tuesdays event.
Leapfrog would imply coming from behind - isn't the iPhone 7 already the most powerful smartphone?

Are we sure it isn’t a 3x3 chip instead of a 4x2 chip?
I'd say no real point in adding more cores to the low power side of things, that would defeat the purpose of the power saving cores.
 
Isn't 8 and X getting the same CPU? Maybe Apple will put a higher binned A11 in X and lower binned A11 in 8. Most likely we'll see the same CPU in both.
Yes I need to know. How does this usually work. At this point I just want the finger print scanner and smaller screen... so I'm going to go with the 8. What upgrades can we expect the 8 to have over the 7+... if any?
 
I would say battery focus would be priority. While having more cores is nice, it probably is going drain battery depending on apps and usages.

Not a lot honestly, but still some significant changes.

More cores can save battery life though. Instead of having to have all high processing cores going it can push it down to the lower cores depending on the task

In addition it can potentially throttle depending on the task. E.g a low CPU usage task may use the lower cores and save energy or be put to be used during low battery to ensure longevity

If you're going to edit videos on iphone then what? It uses up all the resources that it could.

Then the faster processor completes the work faster and goes to low power faster. Intel made big efficiency gains over the years as they refined SpeedStep and Turbo modes. Race to complete the work then sleep. Slow and steady neither wins the race in speed or efficiency.

I know a lot of rumors are out and name changes. You sound like you are describing the iPhone X. I mean just the upgrade to the 7s... not the anniversary phone.

In that case it would be:

- Glass back
- Upgraded processor
- Upgraded camera
- Wireless charging
- Fast charging (maybe)

That's pretty much it as far as I know.
