The GPU in the A8X is almost certainly the 6 core PowerVR 6650 that people erroneously thought was in the A8 before looking at the actual die.

Not gonna happen. They simply won't have such performance disparity between the iPhone and iPad.

Haha based on what? Oh no you're right, a 4.7" screen deserves split screen exactly as much as a 9.7" screen...

Glad there are more ambitious minds running Apple.

New chip, more ram, and maybe better wifi performance or options is what I think. I'm staying with my totally excellent Air but it's exciting for those that are upgrading from an older model,or have never had any ipad.

Enjoy, dudes and dudettes. :)

What??? Where the hell did I state that?

Where did I say that the iPhone should get split screen multitasking? I'm thinking you are just a confused individual...

The A5X ran fantastic in it's time.

Generally speaking it wasn't slower then the A5, and enhanced things in the visuals.

Yes, the A5X wasn't any better at all for the A5 for things like gaming. But it was a stop gap unto itself.

The iPad 4 was actually fantastic, and that had an A6X. I think we need to seperate people associating the start of usable tablet retina displays from "It has an X in it, the sky may be falling".

The intention of the X line has usually meant it's beefier then whats in the phone. For the iPad Air that was the case, but not to the degree of previous years. I have an iPad Air right now, and I'm not necessarily complaining about the performance coming out of it.

What I expect to come out of an A8X is probably the same CPU's of the A8 but clocked higher, 50% more GPU cores, and double the memory. I fully expect the chipset for this was going into finalized design when iOS 8 was likely to have split-view-multi-app support.

The most likely gain will be in memory, and clockspeed. The iPad has always had a higher thermal threshold then the iPhone. Considering the iPhone 6 is able to maintain it's performance over longer periods of time it would seem like with a larger battery and threshold would be able to go even further.

Obviously speculation.

Well thought out speculation I might add. Thanks for this.

So your negative response to a quote about split screen app support on iPad was misconstrued as a negative comment towards the possibility of split screen apps on iPad? Go figure.

Your right though. A 10" device should absolutely not be more powerful than a 4.7" device because... um. Literally can't think of a single reason to support this horsecrap.

Let the iPad be what it should be; a more capable and powerful iOS device than the palm sized phones that share its OS.

I didn't talk about if the iPad should have split screen or not. Clearly reading comprehension isn't your strong suit because I was against the ides of a QUADCORE processor. The A8 will have higher clocks than the ones in the iPhone, there is no need for quad cores when a higher clocked A8 proc and 2GB will run it just fine.

Again you are super confused since all I said is that a quad core on the iPad will never happen if the iPhone doesn't have a quad core proc itself? Donf believe me? Wait till October the 16nth then come right back here and apologize for being so goddamn rude.
