Not seeing it yet. Any requirements or tricks to do?

Maybe a restart on the device will force it to fetch the new channel. I know when other channels have been added, they just show up (assuming there’s some background, incremental refresh of the channel data/XML/whatevs).

So you can stream LIVE news without login requirements?

I think they meant they’re not seeing the channel yet. :)

Ok, more channels.

Where is the App Store? This isn't complicated Apple.

The more time goes on, the more I feel like they aren't going to create one. For whatever reason, Apple seems content to let the Apple TV linger.

Adding channels is not enough.

I want choice on what channels I want to add and Apple clearly has no issues with App Stores. Just not the Apple TV. Make NO SENSE.

Really? You don't think adding a portal for the acquisition of custom applications is complicated?

1. What kind of resource limitations must developers conform to?
2. What resolution should they use?
3. In what ways can the user interact?
4. How can existing apps be ported to the Apple TV?
5. Will apps be stored locally or streamed?
6. How will users manage a flood of apps on the home screen?

Some of these questions may seem to have obvious answers, but nothing is obvious once you get into actual implementation and all assumptions must be reconsidered. And these questions are barely scratching the surface.

Look, I'm really looking forward to an App Store on my Apple TV too, but let's not denigrate all the hard work required to make it happen (probably already years in the making) just because we want it. As much as Apple makes it seem so, this stuff isn't just magic.

i'm sure that thousands of people can't wait to go to work daily to make TV for you to watch for free

Well clearly you have an opinion - fairly arrogant at that.

ABC already makes money through the sales of commercials that are imbedded within the programming. I already pay for internet service to deliver the video stream. So paying a for cable service to access this channel seems redundant and not something anyone should pay. This is simply a stupid defensive tactic by the cable networks that will backfire long term.

I just want Apple to fix the stutter issue with my bluray rips. It's been a problem since the 6.1 update. There are several threads on the Apple's support site but still no fix.

Agree CNBC, MSNBC and Fox News spewing "truthworthiness" about the current state of delusion in this country is just peachy.

In no way does RT compare to those channels, not even FOX.

I've been using a Roku since 2010 because the apple tv is a joke, 4 years later, still wishing for a good Apple tv and its still a joke.

I now have a Roku 3 and would ditch it for a new and improved Apple tv in a heart beat, as I know many would with their Roku and Amazon Fire TVs.

Your opinion! I think Roku is a piece of Junk and think AppleTV is better.

I'd happily buy an Apple TV if it didn't require a home wifi network. I don't see why I can't simply use it to stream content from my iPhone (which I've downloaded using my data plan) to my TV. Why do I need a wifi network. Just bloody stupid.

Almost as stupid as having to sit in a coffee shop with free wifi just to be able to update certain apps on my iPhone which can't be updated without a wifi connection.

Freaking ridiculous!

I'm guessing since I don't have the bloomberg channel and not showing these new channels today even after a restart, I need to be on a newer firmware. I have my Apple TV jailbroken to access SMB. I wish I had another AppleTV 2 a the $99 it originally came in. BTW, I'm on 5.3/6.1.4

ABC News does not require a cable account to access it. Tried it myself and just started streaming. Very nice

Well

well this channel is going to be part of my life. Especially if I can watch the real world events and not wade through local news crup like the latest shooting.

Giving up on Apple TV

I'm giving up on Apple TV. I have 200 Digital Copy files where more than half of them are in SD, the lack of compatibility with the Mac/PC version of iTunes drives me crazy, and there's no way to attach an external HD. It really is a very limited device that Apple has apparently abandoned.

I bought a Blu-ray Drive for my MBP and Ripping software, it'll take me all summer (and maybe fall) to rip 700 Blu-ray disks but at the end of it, it'll be nice not to be locked into Apple and iTunes and have 1080P HD copies of everything. I can finally have my entire library in one place with an open platform like Roku and my Plex Server. I have 550 Digital Copies on UV, so it'll be nice having ONE streaming box that has everything.

Why does Apple always ignore international customers?

I understand sometimes the limitation is the content provider, and not Apple, but in Music, Movies/TV Shows and Books (three of their top markets), they really lack in the international market.

Because you don't spend enough money to be the primary focus market.

They are on of the richest companies in the world with literally 1,000s of developers and this device has been out for how long? As an IT Professional, your point doesn't apply to Apple and how much they've ignored the Apple TV. With the amount of resources and time they've had these issues could have been "easily" solved and sorted out if they actually cared enough to do it, but they don't.

Bye bye cnn

Great to be able to watch the news without CNN's annoying ads before and after every news story. Back to the basics of reporting news without all the " professional expertise opinions and speculation".....the way I want to watch it.

Besides the UV copies couldn't you just covert your Digital copies through handbrake? You have a lot of movies... why do you even want to covert 700 discs? Seems like a lot of work... unless you plan on selling the discs afterwards... This day and age "owning" your media seems like a waste of time when it can be streamed for a few cents a day via Netflix or Amazon Prime. That's my opinion though... I'm all for having less crap to sift through these days, physical, digital or otherwise.

Umm, actually there are....it's called over the air programming, which this basically is.

Bottom line is I fully believe that if you can get it for free over the air, you should be able to get in online for free as well.

So many pointless channels if Apple was smart by now they would have added Amazon Prime or their own movie streaming service to compete with Amazon Prime, heck I still can not get HBO Go on Apple TV because my Cable Charter Communications tells me it is them.

Why not just add other free Movie streaming channels there are some that stream with no Ads not that it is better than Crackle or add Showtime Anytime, Cinemax Go and Starz Play, yes I know those are with cable subscription but those channels have something to watch.

Hopefully the deal with Beats maybe can help out Apple to have better music streaming like Spotify format or Amazon Prime Music instead this Pandora crap format that is dying already.

----------

Add Vudu and Amazon Prime streaming and my ATV would be perfect.

Vudu will never happen because iTunes store is the same thing and competition other than the streaming quality on Vudu might be higher I doubt we would ever see a major competing company on Apple TV, as for Amazon Prime possible but Apple and Amazon need to find central deal of how the App can work like on the iPhone and problem is Amazon has their own version of Apple TV it might be too late to add it best move for Apple would be have their own streaming movies like Amazon Prime.

The Apple TV way of watching TV shows is not really Apple-quality. A bunch of apps with their own special interfaces, and you always have to guess what and what not you'll have to pay for. You go deeper and deeper into each one to try and find stuff, and they're all separate. It's like looking through the UC Berkeley websites. You can't even reorder your home screen. It's also lame that you can't watch straight up TV channels on it.

Amazon Prime also needs to happen. Until then, my Apple TV will sit as an Airplay server. Even the cheapest TVs now come with Amazon Prime built-in. They're all "smart" TVs now that Amazon, Netflix, etc. are pushing and probably paying to have their services on TVs.

RT please.

No. You can watch people talk about how Obama should be convicted for felony charges and how the U.S.A. wants to start a nuclear war on YouTube.
