I'm so sick of the iPhone 6 and iOS8

3rd party keyboards totally unreliable
App crashes are among the worst its ever been on iOS
Another phone with a home button that feels like its about to give in
Restored iPhone again today (set it up as new when i 1st got the 6) but tried doing same today .... phone decides 2 hours later to start heating up drastically and chewing battery .... was depleting fast than i could charge it. Did a hard-reset and it seems to have settled it for now.

I've owned every iPhone since the 3G but this one is the 1st one where i've totally regretted upgrading to.

Just can't believe we're on 8.1.1 and the OS is still a complete mess
So back to Apple i go to get this swapped under warranty but i'm thinking now this will be my final Apple device.... was going to upgrade iPad2 to an iPad air 2 in the new year but not doing that anymore. Toying will selling the phone and jumping to android .... i know i've a lot of apps i'll miss but having to force quit apps constantly on iOS8 is waring thin

I know this is just my story and i'm sure it'll cue a countless amount of forum jokeys with the 'cool story bro' comments .... but don't care :)

Totally get you. I had exactly the same experience, went through 4 iphone 6 Pluses. Finally did a clean install, essentially started all over. It was a pain but solved (most) of my problems.

Here's the thing: if this didn't work I was going to do what I recommend you do: use a differnt phone. I was gonna sit out this year with a Note 4 or Moto X. There is no reason to put up with a subpar product. Too many options available to us. Switching between the platforms in both directions is much easier than people think.

Living and working in a tech centric environment I use and enjoy Android and iOS.

The lion's share of my friends are serious Smartphone enthusiasts that also use both. Some are experiencing terrible frustrations with their iPhone 6, 6+ models. Conversely mine's trouble free. So hard to say what it is due to the fact that amongst us about 40% of iPhone 6 series are a mess of problems.

A hard core Apple Smartphone and Computer user, I've never seen this fragmentation of good vs bad iPhones or iOS issues in the same model line. I have confidence Apple will get it sorted out, in fact five have been replaced in the Apple Store since last Wednesday.

Thankfully our new Nexus 6 models are all stellar. At least twenty of us use both Android and iOS. It's nice for variety and keeping current with our knowledge and skill on both platforms.

Very small % expericing these issues, sucks your the very small % of it, best of luck to you, dont keep the screen super bright on the Nexus 6 for long periods of time or dont sit on one screen for too long or eventually youll risk permanent screen burn in due to OLED technology

Came from a 6 to a 6 Plus and both were and are flawless, its the same "fragmentation" of good and bad devices every year, same old thing, very small % of people experiencing this issue, remember Macrumor is not even 5% of total iOS population and i6/6 Plus owners

About ready to chuck this iPhone 6 out the window

I have no issues with my iPhone 6 plus. Battery life is amazing phone is used non stop. Apps crashing! maybe maybe one in a week usually because I am pushing the envelope. I have 190 apps on board all types. One should not blame apple if a third party keyboard crashes. Use apple's keyboard in the meantime until the problem goes away The problem you have is affecting only small numbers of 6 and 6 plus users and Apple is replacing them I have some 40 clients with iphone 6 and 6 plus non have issues So just demand a replacement

I have had the iphone from 3G to the 6+ I have now. I've been good so far (fingers crossed). I'm even on Ios 8.2 Beta. So sorry you're having issues. Reach out to apple support. They have always helped me in the past. I've had no problem with the 3rd party keyboards I use.

Stop using third-party keyboards. They are not ready.

I stopped that too. Mostly because I type faster than I swype and I just like the default keyboard much more. Android has had 3rd party keyboards for years and they were buggy at first too. It takes time. Just like apps that haven't been updated yet as well. I still think android crashes a lot more than any iPhone I've ever had, and I've had a few android devices in the past.

With every device there's gonna be defects or people having bad experiences. Same would go for EVERY iPhone even if you never saw a problem with it.

My iPhone 6 has been perfect. Trust me, you don't know lag till you've used a budget, mid-range or sometimes even top end Android device. I came from a Samsung Galaxy Ace II and my fiancé is still rocking a Galaxy S III (international). Both see their lag, even on custom ROMs.

I had my iPhone 6 around a month or so now and performance is flawless. Ya, occasionally an app may crash but it never brings the entire system down and takes barely a second to restart it. Occasionally I've very rarely seen a nanosecond jolt but it's barely even noticeable.

Hardware build quality is solid. Home button is fine and the touchscreen, while attracting fingerprints, is fine otherwise. Even with the fingerprints they don't show at all when the display is on, even on it's lowest brightness.

The display quality is fantastic too, I don't know how people can ask for better. Perfectly clear and sharp and not a single discernible pixel.

Your right, it's definitely easier than people think regarding data migration and finding the apps. But it can be pricey to buy paid apps again for another platform.

OP- good luck with your issues. If it's acting up on a clean phone it's the hardware, the swap should take care of it. I might also throw out there, it can be faster, and more effective to use iTunes on your computers when upgrading one iPhone to a newer generation iPhone rather than doing so via iCloud. Either that or a clean install and redoing setting and apps manually from scratch. Sometimes the recipes of settings and apps we have been using on previous generations of iPhones are bad recipes on the newer generations. They sell a lot of these phones, and testing every variation with every app and setting is impossible to do, the only way to find out that it doesn't work is buy hearing the reports from actual users and fixing it.

For what it's worth, I had upgraded from an iPhone 5s to a 6 plus and had issues. Crashes, and less than expected battery life, I swappe it at the store, restored from iTunes on my computer....knock wood, I am very happy now.

Please let us know how it works out for you.

I am having no problems take it to Apple or jump to android I've been there just for fun and came back

Can't say about the iPhone 6, but I can't understand people complaining about iOS 8.1
I'm very happy about it, and being also a Windows phone 8.1 and Android 4.4 user, I still think Apple is a step ahead.

Sometimes people should wait till the product is out awhile before buying it because of the possible issue it may have

I agree with this statement. Having gone through three iPhone 6s, I now know I need to wait at least two months after launch before purchasing. I had one that was overheating and another with loose buttons that made the phone feel cheap. I've got a solid one now.

It's not that hard to switch between eco systems. I've done it from android to iOS. There are some things I miss about Android and some things about iOS that are better, but I'd agree that you're the exception, not the rule and you'll find that happens on Android as well.

I am a android to iphone convert. Couldn't be happier now that I have jail broken and tweaked a few things. Multiple dock pages and homepage clock/weather widgets. Having been an android user whom rooted and rom"d the hell out of those things. iOS 8, the app ecosystem and build quality is wonderful. To each their own. If Ya don't like it get out and stop trashing it.

I'd recommend Android over iPhone any day. I am very familiar with both types of devices. The newest Android 5.0 (lollipop) is absolutely amazing. IOS doesn't have any advantages over android besides the fact there's less devices to develop for and considering all the problems I've been hearing.... The hardware available for android devices is way ahead of any iPhone. Just think Apple was relying on Samsung for CPUs etc for a while.... What does that tell you? Lol

I am not an iPhone hater or apple hater by any means. I use OSX everyday and love my macbook and Hackintosh. I just know what I can do with my android and what can't be done with an iPhone. Full on open source really leaves you with endless possibilities.

Plus there's android devices available that are nearly water proof, have massive batteries for all day function and so on.

I will say iPhones do have great cameras and the iPhone 6+ was been rated the beat this year although still lacks 4k video.

If you have a Mac and use Yosemite, then having an iPhone makes sense for productivity. But you can't be productive if your device is a pos. Also unless you jailbreak your iPhone you're very limited and it's harder than rooting an android IMO.

I'm sure there are things I am not aware of that iOS has available or a jailbroken iPhone can do...

I recommend checking out the new Sony xperia's and Motorola's for a great device.

Just my 2¢

I guessing some of you don't actually use your phones. I use mine for work and as my personal phone. It's is constantly in use. IOS 8.1.1 has fixed a few things but it is definitely still extremely buggy. Mine crashes all the time. The 3rd party keyboards lock up imessage on every message I receive. I contacted SwiftKey but was told they were working with Apple on it. The concern is on apples end. I am considering jumping to android to. Most of my friends have them and have said it was genuinely the greatest move they did. As for apples customer service, that's a joke. Multiple trips to the genius bar has resulted in a waste of my time. They always put that garbage on me that I need to show them. When I do show them the keyboard hanging, they just blame the keyboard for it. I know the same story from everyone. My device is flawless. Never have any problems. I doubt that. You're just not using yours like some of the rest of us have to. Software restores fix nothing. I have to reboot my phone at least 3 times a week due to living locks. Apple needs to become the company they used to be and actually stand by their motto of "It just works" cause it really doesn't.

I use mine very heavily, for personal use and work. I'm sure there's some users who use theirs more, but not many.

I also use swiftkey. I had a couple of lock ups on my 5S with iOS 8 but with the iPhone 6 it's been much better. I have not had any crashes and swiftkey has not locked up.

No two people have the exact same experiences but this is my fifth iPhone and I've yet to have ant big consistent issues like you are referring to.

If you really want to track down the issue, you would do i clean install, add apps back one aat a time to track down where the issue lies. I'd do a clean install, delete all the ilife/iwork apps you don't want, and load swiftkey only and see how it works.

Your 2 cents are wrong because Apple makes their own CPU designs, they just source out to people who can manufacture the SoC for them, but the SoC ground up is completely designed by Apple's team and they are Apple processors designed by Apple engineers customly

6 Plus also gets better battery life then the Note 4/Nexus 6

And what hardware from the Android camp beats the new iPhones? Apple A8 outperforms the Snapdragon 805 found in th Nexus 6 and Note 4 and the 6 and 6 Plus are deemed to have the best smartphone cameras ever and are the "gold standard" now for smartphone imagery

Whats the point of adding 4K video recording if 95% of people do not own 4K tv's or monitors, and when their device only has 16-32gb of storage on average(few minutes of 4K recording will fill that up right away)

4K is the future and the way to go, but not with todays memory standards and average consumer does not have much memory
