Can they be on more than one system?

I am going to get Torchlight, and I wanted to have it on both my Imac and my MBP. Am I going to have to buy it twice, or just the once through Steam?

Worse, you'll have to buy both games individually as well as a Multi-License to play both games using the same account. Also means your Steam Cloud save data is doubled therefore making the subscription cost more.

Nah just kidding, it's all free. Buy the game once and (so long as you're logged into Steam) play it on any Mac or PC you have.

Just once. But you can only have one machine logged in to steam at a time.

For me that is such an awesome system - I have it on my netbook, my gaming PC, my kids' PC and soon my Mac. Each with a different subset of my gaming library installed ...

So wait, you have to be logged into steam to play your games?

That may not work, cause a lot of times with my MBP, I am nowhere near any net access.

I may have to buy directly from Runic then.

Well, you can log in offline, but you just won't be connected to Steam Cloud or whatever that saves all your settings etc. I think..

I've done that, but there is a blurb about making sure the game(s) you want to play are fully updated? No comprendo.

Right, because it won't automatically download patches when offline. Whatever version you have when you go offline is the version you'll stick with. Thus it may have some "bugs" in it, so be careful. Basically trying to scare you into staying online.

In the OP's situation, just go online, patch, set things up, then go offline when you know you're going to be away for awhile. When you get back, switch back to online mode and any patches will be downloaded.
