Ok so the 3GS **** the bed this weekend and I'm using a GoPhone that I refuse to use for a second longer. I found a iPhone 4 for $350 on craigslist. I feel this will hold me over till January when the iPhone 5s aren't such a novelty and can be found. It will make for a good backup phone as well. Just want to make sure I'm not a idiot for doing this. I can't go another day without an iPhone and while I plan on getting the 5 early next year.... this will feel like a brand new toy compared to the 3GS.

thoughts....?

really? I mean I fig. I can give this to my GF or use it as a good backup. I don't need the IP5 right away. Why should I not do this?

if you feel that the current generation of iphone can do all for you, then no, you're not an idiot. Besides, you can return the phone within 14 days if you happen to change your mind.

I didn't know craigslist had a 14 day return policy

I'm buying it from someone on Craigslist. So no contract required. I'm due for an upgrade but I literally cannot use this GoPhone another day. It's painful. I can get the iPhone 5 whenever I want for the contract price (will wait till January). Any input on why this is a bad idea to those who think so? I mean couldn't I turn this thing around for $300 later on?

good lord

If you seriously need to ask this question, then by all means, YES you are a flipping idiot!

Wrong...problem is the price will drop as soon as the new models are announced. And that may be after 14 days.

Just to clarify... rather than wait, you're willing to pay full price for an old phone that will be significantly upgraded within the next couple of weeks and are asking the members of a Mac rumor site if you're an idiot?

You're an idiot for even asking. The actually considering of buying an old phone right now makes you much worse.

It's still a great phone and if the announcements were still a month or two away, it might even make sense to pick one up, but knowing that the iPhone 5 is likely being announced next week, simply looking at the iPhone 4 is idiotic at that price.

You think that it'll only drop $50 after the iPhone 5 is available? More than likely, it'll drop more than that... much more if the rumored 4S comes out and improves on the 4 (at a lower price).

If you got the funds, do it! My, $350 is not the end of the world! You should still be able to resell it for something when the iP5 arrives.

If you do not have the funds, you likely should not buy the iPhone 5 either.

Do it. iPhone 4's would probably sell for at least $300 even after launch so you'll break even or maybe be out of pocket $50. That way you also arent stuck waiting in lines hoping to get the new iphone at launch or staying up all night hitting refresh.
