I totally agree. I doubt the hardware upgrades will be that significant. You will love it.
I think Apple needs to ditch the little display. Time to equip it with a modern display of 4". My iPhone could use a spacious screen. Once you've used one, the little 3.5" seems quite old. That's it, anything else is extra, I don't care.

We had to remove about 15 posts of a discourse that was not related to the original post, and was getting rather too personal. Please try to keep this thread on topic from here on forward. Thanks. :)

The iPhone 4 makes use of flat surfaces and has a stainless steel band going around the edge of the phone. One of the best things about having a quality digital camera right on the phone is that you can upload to social websites, Picasa, Photobucket, etc right from the handset.

1) So my iPhone 3g s (that I bought back in July 2009) died this past Saturday night. I was hoping to hold off purchasing a new phone until the iPhone 5 was released. Sadly, this was not meant to be.

2) Its kind of weird but I don't feel excited as when I bought first my first iphone. Is this wrong?

3) I really liked my iPhone 3g s. Oh well, Retina display here I come...

1) Sorry to hear that.

2) It's not wrong at all, I cannot wait to dump my iPhone 4 for a 5.

3) I too found my 3GS to be the very best, even if it didn't have a retina display and some of the other changes of the iPhone 4.

I'm crossing my fingers that Apple wakes up and builds a really good iPhone 5. I know they can do it, I have no doubt.

And then again I do wonder IF they will build a good one, or do like last time and rush it out the door.

I have an iPhone 4, but I occasionally use a sim adapter and go back to my 3Gs when I go certain places that may damage my phone. Let me just say that the iPhone 4 is light years ahead of the 3Gs. Every time I switch to the 3Gs I can't wait to switch back to the 4. For me the biggest differentiator is the screen... I didn't notice this until I got my iPhone 4, but my 3Gs gave me headaches due to the low resolution screen and constantly needing to squint. The camera is much better, and the flash is very useful. And overall the design is just superior. You will not regret getting it... It's only April, and if the iPhone 5 really does come out this summer, and you really want it you can just sell the 4 and get early upgrade pricing.

Why don't you just get a case for your 4 if your afraid of damage. This way you can always feel comfortable using it no matter where you go. It's a phone, you shouldn't have to feel like it's some kind of jewel, even though I treat mine like one too haha.

Well I've had my iPhone 4 for almost three weeks and must say I love it. Again, the display is leaps and bounds over my previous 3G S.

The OEM handsfree Bluetooth on my BMW is so much better with the iPhone 4. Previously the audio on the handsfree with the 3G S was somewhat muffled and the volume low. Now the audio is louder and very clear. This too made my early (and somewhat reluctant) upgrade worth it!

It was frustrating because the phone that I had prior to the 3G S was a SonyEricsson and the handsfree Bluetooth with that phone worked well.

The iPhone 4 is soo cool!

Benz Bluetooth Improvement

My Droid X would not load my contacts in my Benz bluetooth. My IPhone4 does it perfectly. Worth it just for that.

I just replaced my iphone 3gs with a 4 cause I got tired of waiting. I love the 4, the retina display alone is enough of an upgrade to make it totally worth it.

Not that much of a change? How is a Dual Core A5 chip, upgraded GPU, larger display, better camera, NFC, optimized OS, not that much of a change?

These are only rumours. It is likely on 3 or 4 of these would be added into the iP5. Also the optimized os (iOS5) would be on the iPhone 4 too.

i opted to skip the ip4 (and possibly the ip5) and, instead, spend my money on a decent multimedia devise. got the black 32gig ipad 2.

iphone can keep it's puny screen as long as it wants. they lost one (and perhaps 2) iphone sales because of it, but they did gain an ipod 2 sale.

Update.

Well, I walked into my local Apple Store and returned my shiny, 16 gb, black, iPhone 4 which I had for a full 28 days.

I ended up switching it for the white, 16 gb version. I normally would take the darker iphone, but in my opinion I just really liked the silver band that melds with the white components of the phone.

well, regardless, you've got a good 5 months until the refresh comes out and that's a long time for a phone, so enjoy.

Thanks for the kudos! Yup, I will enjoy this phone for the time being.

Boy, I remember my first ever mobile phone I bought in 1999- that Nokia lasted me five years (and it was the first Nokia phone with Snake!). I only bought a new phone because of peer pressure from my now-wife.
