Have you leveled your table with a real level?

Alright I did some leveling with my dad's leveler and he also helped me check if I've got the same result on my iPhone and mine is actually pretty darn accurate, so for me mine is really spot on!

He also said that the iPhone isn't flat so you can't get an 100% accurate reading.

I have other issuess with the accelerometer, like when I'm in bed the accelerometer can freeze in one mode, anyone else expering this?

Yes I have experienced this in Safari when switching views. Sometimes the iPhone just doesn't want to switch between portrait and landscape.

Okay so then it's not a hardware error on my phone, that's good!
I hope Apple fix it.

many apps offer calibration option in their programs, so clearly it's something that can be fixed by via firmware...

question is whether apple is going to offer a system wide calibration... i doubt it though..

Well ... Genius asked for a demonstration of the wonky alignment but once he saw it he just said only thing he could offer was another replacement if i wanted .... got new one ... its spot on ... perfectly aligned.

I'm having this same problem. I have owned thus far: 4GB 2G iPhone, 8GB 2G iPhone, 8GB 3G iPhone, and currently a 16GB 3G iPhone. I have never had a problem with the accelerometer until now. Papi Jump played perfectly on the 8GB 3G, and with the 16, Papi jumps to the left unless I tilt the accelerometer. I leveled the phone on the base, phone facing me, on a level surface, and jumped. Not sure as to the degree, but the phone is definitely off. I'll be returning it today, I'm doing a firmware restore currently to see if that has any bearing on the problem, will post an update shortly.

Mine was off also and I used a free game (Labyrinth LE) to calibrate and now all is well.

i have this problem on my new iPod touch. using iHandy level, its about 8 degrees off.
8 degrees is a very noticeable error.
i was unable to get a replacement unit within one week of purchase. i live in singapore.
hope apple notices this error and address it soon.... its very difficult to play games with a 8 degree error...
