Your trying to make out that because you do not find the word s**t vulgar that everybody should not either and because you do not take offence at things that everybody else should not take offence at things either.

Because it was brought up I am debating "vulgarity". That is what we do here isn't it? Another member chose to challenge my point and blamed "society" for how certain words are classified, I then followed up with questions about if we should just blindly follow society through some if its more silly stances or challenge them.

insults should not be allowed in this forum regardless of who the person is

I have never suggested anything else, in regards to individual beings, whether members or public figures.

What I will say on that topic is:

Example thread title: "X received a 20 million stock bonus today".
  • A statement like "X is the worst CEO ever" should be allowed, that persons job performance is subjective. It is a lazy comment but still one that should be ok.
  • A statement like "X is an idiot" should not be allowed as that statement does not further the conversation.
  • There will be gray areas like "X doesn't deserve a bonus because of the idiotic way he handled situation Y". I would lean towards allowing it because it wasn't an attack on the person but and expression of how the member viewed their performance which again, is subjective.

Insults should not be allowed towards ANYONE and anyone that thinks differently has a very poor attitude in my opinion.

- The concept of an "acceptable insult" is a contradiction in itself.
- People are equal and should always be treated as such.

I will still stick to my point, vulgarity and insults should not be allowed in this forum regardless of who the person is.

I hope the people above that took issue with my "vulgar" abbreviation or use of "brainless bureaucrats" in reference to policy and groups also take issue with this member for being in support of insults towards select people.

Forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

Edit: Just as I thought, selective and fake outrage is reserved for only certain members.

I'll just say: I don't care if people insult Elon Musk.

Yeah...good point, eltoslightfoot, no use in continuing this.

I'll just say: I don't care if people insult Elon Musk.

That's my takeaway. :p
People can insult me all they want. I really don't care. People can insult a celebrity I like and I really don't care. People can insult a celebrity I don't like and I really don't care.

In short, this is a forum. People are going to disagree with me. I don't care.

If "homophobia" is being mean to someone, over what he does with a consenting adult in the privacy of his own bedroom: I'm not seeing it! My sex life and sexuality are my business, and do not require celebration form Apple or anyone on this forum. Really, the best way to not be homophobic is to simply not care about someone's private bedroom activities!
This is the post included as a reminder:
“This is pathetic. Apple needs to stop spotlighting differences among people. And no, I won’t celebrate people for what they choose to do in their bedrooms.”

For me, what I didn’t like about the post is that it implies being gay is a choice and can be summed up by bedroom acts.

And speaking for myself, I don’t want to be celebrated by anyone. But if someone wants to wear a watch band what business is it to anyone else?

Sir, this is a Wendys.

I kid, I kid. But why are you taking it so personally? People are gonna people.

To be fair: He never claimed that "being gay" (whatever that means, as different people use the term in different ways) is a choice. He said that what people do in their bedrooms is a choice!
And speaking for myself, I don’t want to be celebrated by anyone.
I wouldn't mind being celebrated, so long as it's for the right reasions! If I help out someone on this forum with a computer problem: Sure, celebrate me for that. If I get a job at Apple, and make myself quite useful: Apple's welcome to celebrate me for that, for the contribution I've made to the company. But my sex life, my sexual orentation, etc.: That is my business!
