I'm in no way accusing the OP of being a pirate, yet he should understand why those who have accused him as one.
I still see no reason to think the OP is a pirate. If he were wouldn't it be easier to just grab the file from the ISO that was torrented? Or to just go on a site devoted to piracy and request the application?

We are here to give advice and help but if that means helping someone who is doing wrong then we, as members, have every right to refuse and question the activity in the thread.

If you don't want to help, then please don't post in the thread.

I stand by what I've said, there is absolutely no reason for us to believe the OP pirates software or stole his/her machine.

Guys, it isn't the app specifically. It's the idea of the entire thing...
Strawman argument. And a poor one at that.

If someone gets OS X illegally (and then deletes an application), then they would most likely have problems unless they knew the OS very well...
One could just as easily argue that someone who pirates software has a much better understanding of computers. In fact I'd say that's just about fact, considering how many computer illiterate consumers there are. Don't believe me? Go to an Apple store when they're doing a class on how to use an iPhone or a Mac.

If someone gets OS X legally (and then deletes an application), then they would most likely be able to fix it unless they didn't know anything about the OS.
Orly? So if you deleted your Dashboard applescript/application bundle how would you go about getting that off your OS install disk? Because it sure as hell isn't in the optional installs, or software install on the disk. As far as I know the only GUI way to do this is to reinstall the entire OS.

If someone came up to you and said, "I need you to upload your 10.6 disk. I lost mine, and accidentally deleted my entire hard drive. I don't want to go to the Apple Store because it's not very convenient."
What does this have to do with the OP? This is an awful strawman/

Would you help them? Especially if you met them online and know nothing about them?

If someone asked that, I would say the exact same thing as I said before.
This has nothing to do with the thread.

Here is a nice definition of a flamer:

A flamer is someone who does the following things on a forum:

1. They choose a side and go against everyone saying otherwise.
2. They continually post after everyone who disagrees and attempts to prove them wrong.
3. If they notice that they are losing an argument, they start saying random things and acting like the opposite has no idea what they are talking about.
4a. They sum up the entire argument by calling the other person stupid, an idiot, a moron, unintelligent, etc.
4b. They sum up the entire argument by posting an 'epic fail' picture or something similar.

In this case you are calling me a 'strawman'. I don't really know what that is, but I think it applies here. Same with the facepalm.gif thing...

I'm not calling you a strawman.

And I'm not going against everyone else. Please, what did the OP say, that even in the slightest way, suggests he stole his computer or his OS?

I completely agree with Tuff. Get off your high horse, all of you.

A legal user wouldn't know how to get the dashboard.app back. That explains why he posted in this forum. Most legal users are not "power" users. And most people who know how to illegally download an OS know how to download it again to burn a disk.

Not to mention that if he illegally did it he'd still have the disk, most likely.

God, why are Mac users so self-richious? No wonder people don't like the mac community! Can you imagine how many more people want to ask simple questions but shy away after seeing people persecuted like this?

You people are ruining the purpose of this forum. (Which, by the way, is to help people with their computer problems, not criticize them, I thought I'd remind you seeing as it looks like you've all forgotten.)
