Left my iPhone on my bed and forgot when I ripped my sheets off to through them in the washer. About 20 mins into it I realized what happened. The phone is dead and I will be taking it to Apple tomorrow to pay $200 for it to be replaced.:(

Bummers,

sorry to hear it.

Perhaps this will be a lesson, albeit an expensive lesson in not leaving the phone in places where it can get damaged.

That happened to me once with an old Motorola V600. Call yourself lucky that Apple charges such a modest fee to replace your phone. My condolences.

Try soaking it in rubbing alcohol and leaving it in a bag of uncooked rice overnight. Eitherway...that sucks man. :(

For real.

My in laws are on Alltel and both my MIL and FIL lose or destroy a phone every 6 months or so. Alltel was charging $600 for a Razr, off contract in 2010 for a lost or damaged. I can only imagine what Verizon will do now that they own Alltel.

Wow, sorry to hear that man.

Couldnt you technically just buy a broken iphone from someone and just bring it to apple and just get a refurb for $200 since you are a AT&T customer?

:)

I don't know if they look at serial numbers but you could potentially do that if you had your iPhone stolen and want a cheap replacement.

Relieved to see that more people were offering you their sorrow about the situation rather than the "C00l st0r3 d00d". Anyway, sorry to hear that man. I can see how something like that would happen to me. Hope everything gets settled where you can end up with another phone without having to pay such an absurd price tag.

Ouch dude! Tip for next time because this almost happened to me. Always check your pockets before putting your first load to wash. I check for 3 things: keys, wallet and phone.

Yes, all replacement iphone exchanges have been $200 no matter what kind or size of storage. They only replace it with the same exact model.
As long as they phone is not in 100 pieces you can bring it to Apple for a replacement.
If you lose it or gets stolen you have to pay full price.

the real question is, did it fix the antenna issue? and/or did putting a bumper on it fix the issue? are you sure the washer wasn't holding it wrong?

These things happen. My niece crunched her iPhone 3G in her closing car door by accident. She did not even have it 6 months. She had to pay $199 plus tax to replace it.

Lessons learned. Expensive ones though.
