Since last week, activity sharing has been a mess for me. What I am not sure of, is whether this is related to watchOS 10 or upgrading to the 15 Pro - which involved re-pairing my watch. For reference, I'm on the Ultra Gen 1. Here's what I've been experiencing:

  • AW - No friend workout notifications being delivered
  • AW - (Up until today) No friends listed under sharing section of Activity app
  • AW - (Starting today) Friends names listed under sharing section, but activity not syncing
  • iPhone - All friends listed as expected, along with workouts being shown/updated
  • iPhone <-> AW - My activity and workout data syncing as expected, for me
  • Sharing - My activity and workout data not being shared to friends (showing as "--/1,000cal" on their iPhones & AWs)
So far I've tried restarting each device, and hard restarting the AW. Both are updated to the latest versions I have available, iOS 17.0.2 and watchOS 10.0.1. On a troubleshooting call with Apple Support this morning, they were confused as I should have a watchOS 10.0.2 update available. Looking at Apple's releases page, it looks like 10.0.2 is only for the S9 and AW2 - I'm on the AW1.

I've also tried re-inviting on the iPhone and AW, and that fixed my data flowing to friends but not friends' data flowing to me.

Anyone else having issues with activity sharing? Wondering if I should just do a full AW restore, or just delete and re-invite everyone.

I’m seeing weird issues too, particularly with a friend who upgraded to an iPhone 15 Plus and they see my Activity data under their Fitness app, but I can’t see theirs, it’s just blank. I read from someone on Reddit that unpairing their watch and setting it up again as new (not from backup) worked for them, so I may try that at some point. Otherwise, hopefully an update can fix it soon.

For anyone who finds this thread down the road, nothing was able to fix the issue - including un-sharing and re-adding friends. I eventually just wound up resetting my watch and setting it up as a new one.

Could have been an early bug with iOS17 or watchOS 10 though.
