In any of your previous posts, WHERE did you specify that you had verified your student status? It would help you if you were to read your previous posts and others in reponse to your posts before spouting off random remarks.

I didn't feel it was necessary to go through each step. In saying I signed up, clearly I had to be verified right?

You just didn't read the instructions. Go back and read them again. No "student ID" is required. Read this slowly:

"Fax a copy of your passport or other official identification (such as a driver's license or student identification) along with a current or upcoming course schedule or other official proof of enrollment from your college/university."

Why do you guys want to make people think this is harder than it is?

"Visit the ADC Member Site to confirm that you are a student in your ADC Profile. After you click the Student Status checkbox, you must also provide your student ID number and school name."

What are you confused about now? The ID thing? Don't get all excited. The registration number you get when you sign up is the same. I swear why do you want to pretend this is some exclusive club?

Unfortunately in the real world not everyone has the ability to mind read. There is a big disparity in "signing up" and actually being verified. If you didn't have to fax in any confirmation of enrollment, all the power to you, but until your membership is "activated" and not "pending" let's not put the cart in front of the horse, shall we?

I just searched all my ADC gmails. I guess they also changed there registration greeting or I deleted it.

No one is pretending this is some exclusive club.

I feel you are misleading or the way you are posting may lead to people being misled. I don't want people to be out $99 because they got confused by you.

Apple will take your money one way or another. Have fun fighting to get your money back when it turns out you don't qualify or can't "prove" you qualify.

I don't know where I'm being unclear to you. I did the qualification BEFORE I purchased. Do you understand? I purchased after I got the confirmation (which I posted above). There's nothing misleading here, you just didn't read the requirements thoroughly. You assumed you needed a student ID or to actually take classes when that's clearly not the case.

I don't make the rules, I just figure them out.

Oh, and from your last comment I assume you don't have a credit card (or don't understand the rules if you do). If you make a purchase, and don't receive what you ordered, you call the credit card company and dispute the charge. Very easy.

I had to enter a student ID number. I registered in December. Maybe now things are different.

EDIT:

You still get the product, you just don't qualify to use it. Even if you choose to dispute, its stupid phone calls, wasted time, and doesn't that have a negative effect on ones credit rating to dispute stuff?

Here it is in my preferences. I knew I wasnt going crazy.

Still do. I'm getting frustrated because you're not following. I never said you don't need a number. That's easy to get when you register on-line at any community college. What I said you don't need is an actual ID. I think you're stuck thinking of the Apple retail store, where you DO need an ID?

Where it says "Student Number *"

You may of received a student ID number via your online registration. I did not know my ID number until I received my student ID. Perhaps you know it because you got the actual number online. I did not.

Perhaps you did an old fashioned paper application? With web based applications like for a community college the number is sent back to you after you click "submit" on the application.

Anyway, I'm underwhelmed by the pricing but I didn't look at the expensive stuff.

Take a look at the "pro" models. Add an upgrade or two and its the best deal you can find short of working for Apple, winning something from Apple, or knowing someone that works for Apple or some other odd exception.

Refurb prices used to be better & sometimes they do clearances on older NEW models.

If you know anyone famous, select celebs get 50% off (better than employees).

What you're doing is ghetto and I despise it - especially because BigPrince is trying to help you and you're being rather rude.

Paper application is not old fashioned. For me it may be a signal of an actual education/university especially in the age of all these silly stupid online universities with quickie programs and community colleges where a great number never finish.

You say you "verified" before you purchased. You don't. As per Apple's FAQ on their website, they do it AFTER you buy the membership. You have to confirm enrollment, which as far as I know is different from registration. Kids who take a year off at my school are in the system, but are not necessarily enrolled.

To confirm enrollment, you need a class schedule (so you'll need to register for classes and pay) or a letter from the school verifying enrollment. Other people on this board have posted that Apple also called their school or held orders to confirm things. So unless your magic button community college also prints out letters with the simple click of a "submit" button, I don't think you're going to be verified.

No, you don't. Just print your registration page. As long as it has your student number just fax it in with an ID and you're good to go.

You say you "verified" before you purchased. You don't.

Sure you can, I did it. But if you (or anyone else) have any questions why don't you ask them yourself at devprograms@apple.com (though I suspect you'll argue with them too).

They probably do - I don't know or care. If they called I would be verified, because I did register and am technically a college student.

maybe apple got sloppy in your case, but as far as i know, registered at a university/college is different from enrolled.

you don't enroll in college, you enroll in class. you can be registered with the college and not enrolled.

verification of enrollment verifies that you are actually enrolled in class. perhaps they got sloppy in your case, maybe they didn't see that you aren't enrolled in class, but that doesn't mean they won't see other people's letter without actually enrolled in class. Other people that you are deceiving.

Whatever. You haven't been verified yet and I hope you aren't. If I were apple I wouldn't not consider a computer printout to be an official verification of of enrollment.

We're not trying to make this difficult for anyone trying to get an ADC membership, but maybe we're honest people who aren't in it just for the lifetime discount (I'm not).

And because you haven't been verified yet, you shouldn't be giving out this advice that people go register at free community colleges to get a discount especially if it could backfire - maybe not for you but for others.

OK, so I am not the only one that picked up a bad vibe from all this. I was also concerned with the advice he seemed to be giving.

You're really confused. I was verified (posted above), I did purchase ADC, and there's nothing to "backfire". I'm sorry if you don't understand or agree with (or both) the policies and procedures Apple has outlined but they're pretty clear. If Apple wanted to require students with a certain class schedule (or any at all), or a minimum GPA, etc. they could but they chose not to because at the end of the day anyone can be a "college student" and anyone can be a "developer". It's the people who're smart enough to figure that out that they want using and coding for their platform.

You, on the other hand, should probably turn that old Powerbook in and and excuse yourself. ;)

That is what I meant about you being rude. My powerbook has nothing to do with this topic whatsoever and it just shows the type of defrauding malicious person you are.

I neither believe you nor believe that Apple would verify you and until I see proof, I think you're full of lies.
