Some of it, I think, depends on how long ago you started using the internet.
If you've been using it a long time, or its always been around, then it is just another communications channel - a conduit to information that is more interactive than TV/radio etc. Would people say that we're addicted to the post arriving, electricity in our homes like it was a bad thing?
On the occasions where I can't get online, it's not until I develop a burning need to know something that I get antsy.
I will admit to procrastinating online rather than doing more boring chores but I think that's just my nature since I did exactly the same thing with books when I was younger.
