This would really be a nice data-only phone. And imagine how "low-cost" it would be with a plan comparable to iPad/iPad Mini; one's data phone bill might be just 20 dollars a month.

I still don't get why there is no FCC stuff on there.

What is not to get? The phone is made in China (hence the leaks). The phone then gets shipped world wide. The only place that gets the FCC info is the US. Moreover, if these are test units not for sale they need no label in the US. Further, who knows at what stage the labels go on. I am guessing last.

Apple's lineup after the fall media event will be the following.

Those look dreadful. While Apple does use a similar (though brighter) pallet for the iPod, it's difficult to imagine them using something like this for the iPhone. I just can't see them offering a regular iPhone, a cheap iPhone, and possibly a large iPhone all together. Is anyone not buying iPhone because of cost at this point? If so, will these be cheap enough to capture those users?

I seriously doubt they put it on separately. Why would they run through the process for the logo/name and then run the product through the system again? That is the definition of inefficient.

Also, even if there is no FCC stuff I would think there would have to be some of that other info.

Pretty sure this is happening now - would be an awful waste of peoples money just to spread rumours.

Now to see if the price is realistic!
I'm starting to thinks its legit to. Have u noticed how these 'citrus' style colours match up pretty well with the new ios7 colour scheme.....

Outside of the US, it seems so, since an unsubsidized iPhone 4 is still what, $300? These should be cheaper for Apple to build than manufacturing the iPhone 4 or 4S while offering similar capabilities.

Apple's cheapest product, the iPod Shuffle is also aluminium.
Somebody tell me why they'll use some ugly plastic for an iPhone???

The use of plastic is two-fold:

1. Help reduce the CoGS of the budget iPhone (let's call it the iPhone Color) to maintain a decent margin while targeting the mid-low end of the market.
2. Differentiation across the iPhone portfolio to avoid too much cannibalisation.

That bright plastic is going to appeal to a younger budget/style concious demographic and Apple will sell these by bucket load. By contrast, the aluminium iPhone will retain its premium look (and margins) and still sell bucket loads to an on average slightly older better-off consumer.

Win-win for Apple.

You don't think that this phone is, in fact, a decoy made by Apple?

I mean, I love the Nokia Lumia look with bright colours and personalisation.. but there wasn't half as many concrete leaks regarding the iPhone 5.

There were even more leaks for the iPhone 5.

I still don't get why there is no FCC stuff on there.

Apple wouldn't submit the device till last minute with request to hold publication till a certain date. They can't then print certification on an untested device.

No camera filtering on A5 devices? What about the 5th gen iPod touch? It has filters.

In Europe we also have the FCC info in our devices

Pretty much every high end phone and tablet has 2GB RAM or more. Except the iPhone and iPad. So I predict the 5S and iPad 5 get 2GB RAM.

I laughed, but I don't get what you mean.

I figure they were talking about ketchup/catsup (aka in some parts as tomato sauce).

It's a good question: pantry means it's not cold when you put it on your food, and our containers (Heinz of course...) say "for best results, refrigerate after opening", not like a warning, like a suggestion. I don't think it can go bad over a reasonable use cycle, same with mustard, and I don't think restaurants chill their ketchup either.

:D

Actually I think A5 will be discontinued.
It will be A6 across the board with A7 for flagship products. That's one of the reasons for going with plastic and cheap camera because it brings the cost down enough that they can put better internal components.

I agree, I think Apple would prefer better economy of scale for the A6, and it means OS feature parity (UI effects, etc) on their newest three devices, heck, I wouldn't be surprised to see the iPod Touch get an A6, the [eventual] iPad Mini retina go A6 variant (i.e., A6X) like the 4th gen iPad. I'm also not convinced the 5th gen iPad will get a brand new series SOC, I think maybe a die shrunk, tweaked A6 again that results in a small bump in performance and battery life.

Actually, iPhone 4 is $450 unsubsidized, and that's for the lame 8GB version that is currently sold as the low-end iPhone. Something comparable to the iPhone 5 going for anything near $300 is obscenely optimistic, but we'll see soon enough.

I was actually thinking Cook batting leadoff, with Schiller in the 2 hole, Ive batting 3rd and Federighi batting cleanup.....Ive can do it all and Federighi is the big hitter lately.

Pretty solid lineup if you ask me ;)

The internals you have are just wrong. They're going either going to keep the 4S around for selling, or drop it completely. The 4 will be dropped completely. So the line up will be either 3 iphones (5, 5S, el-cheapo), or the same plus the 4S. My thinking is they'll drop the 4S because it's still a 3.5 inch screen, and has less than a gig of ram. The cheap iPhone will have 1gig of ram, and an A6 chip. The reason for this is because almost the entire reason for the cheap iPhone is to have a phone spec'd to be able to run iOS7. the iPhone 4 can barely run iOS7. 0.5 gigs of ram doesn't sit well with iOS7's transitions and animations. Plus new background tasks. What the cheap iPhone lacks will be in camera (versus the 5S which will have a 12mp) and potentially might not be retina, but not certain about that yet. I doubt they would not put retina in it. A5 chip is trash though, and you're stupid if you think they're going to launch a phone that is supposed to be for iOS7, with only 0.5 gigs of ram, and can hardly run iOS7.
