Oh gosh!

Oh my godness! Suddenly I know how much I need Adium - and not the boring MSN for mac version! Hope the problem will go away soon! I miss my duck! :)

If you install the previous version of adium, will it replace the new version on the computer? (I'm still a pretty new to the whole mac thing... )

Thank you... :p

Or no.. :)

If u create a folder named "Adium 1.3.1" (or whatever u want), and than put the previous version af Adium there, and voila, u can have both versions installed.

Both versions will use same settings, same logfiles and so on...

Yeah, I've been having this issue as well. Im happy to hear Im not alone, put up some posts if someone gets it working.

Wow, I signed in specifically for these forums because of this problem and everyone else has the same problem. I hope the problem gets fixed soon.

Same problem here started this morning I was on last night and everything was fine. I think MS must of changed something on their server side late last night.

2 Options.. We can..

» Use Microsoft Messenger for Mac, the official client.
» Use Adium 1.3.1, the previous version of Adium.

I'll use MSN For Mac :)

Ahhh thank you so much, I reinstalled OSX last night and used time machine to restore apps and thought hat was causing the problem.... Even after removing/reinstalled adium

Adium Blog is down...

There's no real "fix" listed there yet, as of 2 minutes ago when I had read all the comments and info posted before it went down.

The problem is that Adium, Pidgin, Finch, etc, (which all can't log in) are using the newest MSN protocol, MSNP15.

Microsoft's servers are rejecting any LibPurple (Adium/Pidgin/Finch framework) attempt to download the addressbook (contacts) via the MSNP15 protocol.

You can downgrade to the older version of Adium (1.3.1), which uses the old MSNP12 protocall and can still connect. --> Adium 1.3.1
(The Adium site is probably still offline at the moment, but you might have some luck with a google search, if not, i'll mirror it shortly)

ADDED RAPIDSHARE LINK: Adium 1.3.1 @ Rapidshare

or you can download the official version of msn messenger, which seems to work. --> Mac MSN Messenger

otherwise you just have to wait on an update to the libpurple library, and subsequently adium...

I use Adium in order to have windows live messenger work on my mac. However, I am unable to sign on neither to my primary or secondary account and neither will the website meebo accept this (strangely, however, ebuddy seems to accept them). Is this some account of Adium having faulty settings on my preferences or is it problems with MSN servers not accepting third-party requests? Help is greatly appreciated :).

Hey there,

Welcome to the forums!

Next time try and post this thread in the appropriate forum (Mac software not iPhone apps). Thanks!

Re: the problem, looks like the fix they have is pretty lame...wait for the next adium beta. MSN messenger for Mac sucks, so I'm not looking forward to waiting or installing a previous version of adium.

oh FFFFF :<

Oh, I'm sorry. I saw the third party apps and didn't notice it was under the iphone section.

OK, Adium 1.3.1 works so thanks for pointing that out :)

That's my Mac sorted out. Does anyone know how to get Pidgin (Windows) or Palringo (iPod) working?

Edit: No, 1.3.1 doesn't work. Well, it half works. I have two MSN accounts and one works, but the other is causing Adium to crash.

Edit 2: The Pidgin developers say it [the 1.3.2 not connecting issue] is a bug in libpurple.
