Muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Adobe bloatware dies. Oh if only Steve was here to gloat. :D

----------

Does this mean that Flash is going to be defunct and the standard video will be HTML5?

Not really, it just means that on mobile system like phones and tablets flash will be converted to html5 or something new and light. I guess we will have to wait and see if Adobe has actually something in their bag of tricks.

does this mean learning flash action script is nearing its end of life? i just started some courses in school on action script, and while its a pretty nifty language, ive got a feeling flash is being phased out.

that said; how does this affect flash on the desktop?

For mobile devices it defunct. For desktops/laptops it still lives.

I'm no expert when it comes to flash, but I think most Actionscript programmers are going to find their futures in programming Adobe AIR apps rather than internet content. Flash still lives on in desktop web browsers, but its popularity is falling rapidly.

You would be foolish learning Flash at this time. Might as well study COBOL

Am not a typical fanboy person but personally I hate flash, especially advertisement flash and flash menus.

On my desktop, my firefox flash plugin is permanently disable. Only when I need to watch a video that is not available in HTML5 format that I will temporary enable it.

On iphone, I practically don't give a damn abt flash...

The truth is, with flash being unsupported on future mobile devices and with mobile phones/tablets getting a large scale market penetration in the next years, website creators will be forced some day to skip from flash to HTML5 to reach a wider user base. So in the end, denying hope for flash on mobile devices and concentrating on HTML5 means: Flash is dead on mobile devices and will soon be on its dying gasp on desktops.

Even youtube offers a growing number of their videos optionally in HTML5.

To be sure, try to get a HTML5 course.

I have never been very bothered not having flash on iOS but ironically the bad thing about this (for me at least) is that it means there will be more unwanted ads that will soon work on iOS Safari...

Web developer here, learning flash today is a waste of time, in our community almost everybody ignores flash

I would say that it is not something really big worth learning. Actoin script will be used for things like Air and products were they are helping generated apps and what not.

For web site developing I do not think it is high on the list of things to learn. HTML5 and javascript would be much better.

They are already here, no flash support? Here is a gif for you!

Great purchase their Adobe. That 4+ Billion for Macromedia sure is working out.

Apple buys NeXT for $463 Million and turns a dead relic into the juggernaut it is now, all in just over 14 years.

In many ways it was really NeXT that took over Apple.

philip

And all fanboys screaming... predicting html5 replaces flash and never wrote a single line of code. weird.
I can't understand why's this a good news to celebrate. You couldn't run flash on the ios devices, so this doesn't effects you in any way.

Steve once again shows how much of a visionary he was.
such an embarrassing statement
