Btw it is necessary to upgrade when the basics are enough.

Anyway Adobe is on its last leg.

Curious, who will replace them?

We dumped Illustrator a couple years ago, and more recently replaced Lightroom with PhaseOne's CaptureOne, and it is AWESOME. Makes Lightroom feel like prosumer hobbyist kit by comparison.

Someone's going to have a lot of work to do to rival Photoshop though.

...and html5 & animated svg might be great, but no one's got a decent application with a gui to compare with Flash for vector animation either.

Well, still no support for case sensitive file systems. Guess i'll be sticking with Pixelmator.

I've really been enjoying the new version. I think it's a big step up from CS5. It doesn't run great on my 2007 MacBook... but that's probably because I'm STILL using a 2007 MacBook. I'm waiting patiently for you MacBook Pro updates!

Wirelessly posted

Sweet. April 29th can't come soon enough.
This is why 17" ivy MBPs should support 32 gigs of ram, and raid 0 sata3.
Adobe running wild.

Quite impressive.

very impressive:D

wow, looks impressive

Most impressive

Well, this is why I don't have a problem with people who DL this stuff off torrent sites. Adobe clearly makes plenty of $ off us Pro seats we buy to keep on keeping on. & if you're not using it professionally, then you weren't going to pay pro pricing for it anyway.

That's what I used to think. They wouldn't buy it anyway so Adobe are not losing out.

Adobe ARE losing out though because these people, who don't really need the power of Photoshop, should be buying Elements instead. So Adobe are losing money on sales of Elements.

It's seriously the best release of Photoshop ever, it's absolutely amazing! They finally went back and made it more efficient, faster and less buggy. The interface is beautiful and the features are great. Also, everything can be changed by the user, which is awesome too.

PS: Does anyone know how long this beta trial stays functional? It doesn't make any mention of the time limit!

Adobe mentions the time limit somewhere on the dowlnload page. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was 7 days if you don't have a user account, 30 days if you do have an account . Adobe gives you a chance to register when you install the beta, if you are not already registered.

Can't Connect to Adobe

Is anyone else having issues connecting to Adobe.com? I can't sign in to use the Beta version of Photoshop CS6? Also, nothing loads when I visit Adobe.com. It's like they don't exist and can't figure out how to update their site. I thought they were professionals at the web.

Did you pirate CS5? If you blocked the activation, you blocked their website too most likely.

This is a clear indication that people want to use Photoshop and they do want the latest version and that Photoshop is overpriced. If they lower the price to something like 299 or even 199 and make it available at Mac Store, the sales will go through the roof and bring them way more money than they are making now.

And the day after the beta ends and Adobe announces a $600 dollar price, 499,000 beta users will be removing the beta from their computers.

I wonder if they will announce how many people had to remove it due to the price?

I'm surprised that Intel Core 2 Duo equipped old iMacs (2006 white 24", for example) can run a 64-bit application like Photoshop CS6.

Those old processors support 64-bit?

The software isn't a trivial nicety nor a right. Claiming you were never going to pay for it is thusly the reason you should have it for free is truly an odd leap of logic.

It's worth mentioning that Adobe now offers a lease program that's quite reasonable if you don't plan on using the software for long periods of time. Between the 30 day trial period to get up to speed on the software and $30 a month to use the software, I'd think the entree fee is pretty low to decide if the software is right for you...

Is it a little pricey? Sure, but seeing people demanding the price should be slashed by 1/6 the current price because that's how much they'd be willing to pay is goofy.

Final Cut's price got slashed but it's STILL pirated as much as it ever was. Those who want it for free, usually continue the practice even when the price is more attainable.

I will admit I think it's price is too much, but I have visions of $300 on the app store, not $75. The R&D does exist to some extent. ^_^

Or for that matter, Adobe's competition might be loosing out. Why buy Pixelmator when you can pirate Photoshop for free? If Adobe saw their purchased user base shrinking and a competitor's base growing, they would be forced to adjust their approach. In a way piracy stifles this bit of capitalism from functioning correctly.

I understand where you are coming from but there are free 30 day trials and reduced "student" pricing available.

student pricing? so in your mind only students with rich parents deserve to be allowed to have the software.

FYI Maya which I don't even like is available for free to students for a few years with a license for non-commercial use along with all Autodesk software. Adobe needs to get with the times.

Blocking activation does not block Adobe's sites.

Core 2 Duo chips *ARE* 64-bit. The only processors that don't support 64-bit were the old Core Duo chips that shipped on the very first MBPs.

I've got the same setup and it runs okay on my end as well. I am probably going to avoid a few features like 3D imaging? I'm looking to upgrade once the new MacBook pros come out.
