I'm really tired of these biweekly updates and would love to totally ditch Flash completely.
Except I need it to watch pandas, BABY pandas, darn it.

Same here. The current download page of Flash (even linked from the article) lists 12.0.0.70 as current.

It would be wiser to uninstall Flash than to upgrade.

They're constantly patching it, which is better than sitting on a vulnerability until you can bundle them with a ton of other patches.
Yes you do. Jobs even claimed that over 80% of the problems in OSX were security exploits in flash.

Exactly. I'd like it if flash didn't have to exist, but I don't hate adobe for at least keep their propriatory software up date.
And the other 20%? QuickTime, right?
Security first, my friend. What's the point of lower CPU usage if you can get infected by malware, which will inevitably use all the available CPU/GPU/Memory you have?
Also, I think latest Flash version 12.0.0.70 is safe, contrary to the article. See this security bulletin for today Feb 20. http://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsb14-07.html
Affected version is 12.0.0.44 and older. I hope Apple updates xprotect.plist soon!
said HTML5![]()
Screw this, I'm just not going to update and not use it. I don't even need it anymore except in very rare cases on trusted sites.

What's wrong with QuickTime?
----------
I used to update my Flash only once in a blue moon. No malware attacks. The trick is to stay away from Russian and Chinese websites and use AdBlock.
----------
HTML 5 is slow too :/
On techspot it says:Okay, this confuses me:
I just updated from 12.0.0.44 to 12.0.0.70 and cannot update further.
From ARS technica:Adobe said Flash Player 12.0.0.44 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh, version 11.2.202.336 and earlier versions for Linux, AIR 4.0.0.1390 and earlier versions for Android, AIR 3.9.0.1390 SDK and earlier versions and AIR 3.9.0.1390 SDK & Compiler and earlier versions are all affected.
The new version of Flash Player for Windows and Mac is 12.0.0.70 while the newest for Linux is 11.2.202.341.
So yea, .70 is the one you want.Readers should remember that versions 12.0.0.44, 11.7.700.261, or earlier of Flash, regardless of the platform they run on, contain the underlying vulnerability.
It would be wiser to uninstall Flash than to upgrade.
Are you seriously asking what's wrong with QuickTime?
What I find weird is why under the System Preferences pane, it states I have version 12,0,0,70 installed, but when I went to check the version, via URL, it states I have 12,0,0,44 installed? Anyone else having this issue? I had to manually install it myself, instead of clicking on "Check Now" for an update.
I used to develop in Flash and it paid my bills handsomely. But nowadays, it really just needs to die. Especially since sites like Facebook and YouTube to some extent require the latest Flash player, hence having to shut down ALL browsers just to install this security-hole ridden plugin gets annoying very quickly.

Yes. It works fine

Also, sites sometimes say that my Flash is outdated right after I update it and restart my browser.
