Hi again

Is there an advantage to buying a MBP at an official Apple Store?

Another couple of stores in Australia (The Good Guys and OfficeWorks) currently have 10% off all Apple laptops.

Cheers

Repairs and returns: if you buy at an Apple Store and need to bring the machine back for service, it's no questions asked.

You're telling me no other place will do this?
They can, but they might charge. With Apple it's a given that data migration will be done by a Genius when purchasing a new Mac from them.
My experience with apple geniuses transferring my data has been bad. I get better results by making a carbon copy clone.
To each their own. Your experiences might not be everyone's.

"Might", charge. So your statement is false. Are you going to to go back and edit it?

I wonder what bit you. Several places will charge you, others won't. My statement won't change because it is true that Apple never charges for that type of service when purchasing a Mac.

Now, please go wonder somewhere else with that attitude.

I quote, "Personalized setup (assuring correct import of previous data) can only be accomplished at Apple.".

I walked out with a free pair of beats with my laptop they helped me with a lot of with features I wanted in my new MacBook Pro and even fix my old MacBook Pro 2019 and discounted Apple Care. The student discount was way better then the military discount I was going to use originally

If the price is the same I buy at the Apple Store. I have always been treated very well. On my last system (2018 15" MBP) They even found that a company I contract for had a business relationship with Apple and gave me the company's employee discount (8%).

Personalized Setup may not be something everyone needs, but it's offered, and it's free for those who want a more "white glove" experience.

One other minor advantage to buying directly from Apple is that your in-service date and thus warranty coverage will be correctly recorded in Apple's system.

Not all retailers do this, which may result in a need to submit proof to correctly reflect the actual date of purchase, and ensure that the warranty coverage period doesn't end prematurely. I've had to do that with a Mac that, according to Apple, was purchased months earlier than when I bought it. That erroneous date probably reflected the date it was sold to the retailer.

That said, it's no big deal, just a hassle, and if the discount elsewhere is good, that may be worth the possible inconvenience.
