well, I will stop going on since I have already taken over the thread.
lol , I was just thinking , there was an article about 2 months or less ago about sprint launching a proxy server all their phones will pass threw that will adjust all the pages to make it all phones some how load full webpages although it could be another 2 year promise lol. Just a side note there was a recent article saying guy who supposely help design sidekick interface is working for palm now. I read to much apparently. Palm is Like Sprint and hate to say it Mortorola If they havent got a fire lite up their ass yet, they need to realise the end is near from my view point if they dont turn **** around. Sprint with launch of Qchat which will lead to sololy sprint network will lead to them being turn around but they also depending on wimax. Palm , lol last article I read was like in a couple years they will be done with some new os for phones. Motorola split their business in two , one for cellphone , and I guess everything in the other business. If they dont do well soon they are selling it off, admitly they already tried to shop around to sell it once already. They feel behind with razor this and that all the time instead of progressing. Yet some how I still have to sell krzrs, they are free , and some how I still have to sell rzr 2.

To respond to the person reply before me , I can be unbiased. If you must get sprint get blackberry curve.

I honestly don't see how people are choosing other smartphones.

And yet obviously millions do choose another.

Sometimes it's as simple as they don't want to change carriers. That alone is enough for people to get an Instinct or whatever is available. And it's why reports that do comparisons are semi-flawed from the beginning.

Or their company mandates the phone, like Blackberries.

Sometimes they're just not big on surfing the net, which is the main thing the iPhone does better than others for the moment.

Some people need copy / paste, and that alone means the iPhone is out of the running. My stepson is like that.

Others like using Slingbox or a good navigation program, or they need to store lots of documents locally. Some just need Java support.

Sure, the iPhone COULD do a lot of the above. But it doesn't. And until it does, it's a non-runner for many people. That's not the end of the world; it's just the way it is.

Dude, where were you when I was thwarting off all the iPhone fanboy/girl attacks on other threads. :D

Yeah sorry I could care less bout sprint

Here the instinct got upgraded it now has wifi ;)

But when it comes $$$ payment instinct or other smart phone ,

they come to being 50$ cheaper than iphone

You suck for getting WiFi, and yeah, it's about the same down here. I save about $70 over going to AT&T which is why I just can't get the iPhone.

You really need to write down what features are most important to you.
That will help you decide as we were talking about. If it is email then Iphone or blackberry would be better.

Ps. I forgot to add it will also depend on what mail client they use on the instinct up there since you already telling me of differences for my comparision might not completely fit.

mhm, deffently. I think i will end up giving the iphone a closer look once some reviews come out

I'm sticking with Bell because of Rogers iPhone plans. So I'll probably look into what touch screen phones Bell has. Haven't had a problem with Bell but Rogers is putting out so much BS right now that I can't handle them.

I honestly don't see how people are choosing other smartphones. If you have to second guess the iPhone then it isn't for you.

They're not.
The Instinct is not a smartphone.
Neither is the Vu, or the Dare, or the Glyde, or the Voyager.

The iPhone, Blackberries, Treos, and Palm phones are smartphones. The rest are just regular phones with a sub-par touchscreen.

PLEASE stop referring to the Instinct and the likes as "smartphones." They're dumbphones.

The others are what's known as feature phones.

Which is what people have said the iPhone is... until the App Store opens. ;)

Btw, at least one, and perhaps more, can also download and run BREW and Java apps.

I know they're not known as "dumbphones," I'm just trying to clarify the differences. The iPhone won't truly be a "smartphone" until the release of the 2.0 firmware, however, the others mentioned will never be smartphones. They're just not made to do the same things.

People seem to think that any phone with a touchscreen and the Internet now is a smartphone, just because the iPhone has those things and is referred to as such.

If price is your main thing, then go with anything other than the iPhone. I do agree that if you are second guessing it, and not blindly following the crowd, then the iPhone may not be for you.

In the states, AT&T is charging $130 a month, which is standard as others say, but it's crazy compared to other plans that give you much more than anything AT&T could offer. The Instinct is winning out because it's on a cheaper network that has more services, and the phone itself has more features.

To be honest, the only reason to choose the iPhone is for the UI and iTunes/Mobile Me syncing. Other than that it's just like any other phone from 2005. The down side is that other phones don't have that UI or iTunes syncing, but they have the many features that people are still hoping to get in the iPhone, like copy paste, and video recording.

If you want to save money on cheaper plans that offer the same or more, go for any other phone. If you don't mind paying much more for a glossy UI and iTunes, then go for the iPhone.

p.s. Read a lot of reviews if you want another opinion. Many say the browser suck, some say it's okay, many are biased towards the iPhone because of the UI, and many are biased towards other phone because of their many many features.

1. $130 is for the family plan and i was just on the sprint site and their family plan starts at 129.99 and the larger family -plan for 169.99

the sigle AT&T iphone plan is 69.99 plus tax...not sure where you guys getting your numbers because the istinct has the same price plans except they have the 99.99 option for a single plan.

The Instinct is winning out because it's on a cheaper network that has more services, and the phone itself has more features.

I don't even know where to start with the absurdity of just this one sentence.

1. In what way is the Instinct "winning out?"
Certainly not in sales. Certainly not in media coverage. Certainly not in reach. Because you have it means it's "winning?"

2. Sprint being cheaper is highly debatable.
The minimum plan for the iPhone 3G is $69.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited data (with rollover minutes). The minimum plan for the Instinct is $69.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited data (no rollover).

3. The phone itself has more features? Huh?
How well does Super Monkey Ball play on the Instinct? Have you synced all your contacts and appointments with your corporate Exchange server yet? It must be great to have the iTunes Music Store on your Instinct, huh?

EDIT: I see your main beef seems to be with AT&T, rather than the iPhone, so the third point might now apply as much.

$130 for unlimited data and minutes, not even including text, insurance, or any other features.

Not the family plan, the individual one.

I

No, it's winning out in.... read what I said.... features. Why don't you read? Why did you pick that one phrase out of the entire sentence/post that I made?

2. Sprint being cheaper is highly debatable.

Add everything up and come back.... never mind, I will just tell you.

You get EVERYTHING on Sprint for $100, not AT&T and that IS a fact, check your facts... when it's a fact there is nothing to debate. You can debate importance, or what features people want over another features set.

Facts aren't debatable. And there are other features that AT&T doesn't offer that AT&T does, like insurance.

3. The phone itself has more features? Huh?
How well does Super Monkey Ball play on the Instinct? Have you synced all your contacts and appointments with your corporate Exchange server yet? It must be great to have the iTunes Music Store on your Instinct, huh?

Strawman.... :D.

EDIT: I see your main beef seems to be with AT&T, rather than the iPhone, so the third point might now apply as much.

Agreed to a certain extent. My beef is with both, but not as great as some people seem to assume. I think the iPhone is the best phone on the market when it comes to the UI and User Experience, but when you compare it to others, the others certainly win out in what they offer. Much like Apple hardware.

I got nothing to do with Sprint, I dont care about sprint,

I live in Canada, sprint does not exist in canada.

I will be probably going with the instict on Telus network on August 8, im a student and have low budget.
