Bought myself a Dell S2725QC. On the second day noticed some strange artifacts on the screen, later figured out that it was an Image Retention. 20 minutes of chrome/VS opened is enough to burn in taskbar/navbar into the screen. I'm afraid that it would get worse, or that it is a batch issue, so I would return it and probably change to LG 27UP850K-W
The monitor is awesome, but I really notice image retention and for this price it's unacceptable to have such issues.

I'm happy that I've experienced this monitor, but also very disappointed with this burn-in issue

I just bought 2 of the Dell S2725QC monitors on Black Friday at Best Buy for $249.99 to replace a dual 24" 1080p monitor setup on my M4 Pro Mac mini. So far I'm loving them with a couple caveats.

My first monitor had a dead pixel which wasn't a great first impression but Best Buy exchanged it in store with no issues. Both monitors look great after I calibrated them with a Sypder4 colorimeter (outdated I know). Calibration wasn't too dramatic but it got rid of a little bit of over-saturation and exaggerated contrast of the default Dell profile. After calibrating both monitors there's still a little bit of a color difference between them that I'm trying to dial in manually with the OSD controls.

The sharpness and clarity of text with 1440p scaling has been a huge upgrade for me and I'm no longer straining my eyes trying to read the small text in many parts of macOS. 120Hz and 1500:1 contrast ratio has been a nice upgrade over my old 60Hz 1000:1 Dell S2415H (1080p) panels.

I have noticed the "screen burn in" issue but so far it hasn't been severe enough to make me want to return them. This morning I left a dark mode Facebook window open with the brightly colored "stories" static at top of the screen while I made breakfast. 30 minutes later of screen-on time later, I changed to a solid grey window and I could see the faint retention of the "stories boxes" that faded completely after 5 minutes.

I changed my "screen off" time to 5 mins of no activity to see if that helps with the retention issue. Hopefully it's not a problem that gets worse with age or a "defect" with only some units.

Another potential issue I noticed on my left monitor was that it looks like the left side of the screen has a greener tint than the right. This is mainly only noticeable to me on white/light grey backgrounds. I haven't noticed this on my right monitor and it's not severe enough to bother me too much.

Has anyone else had an issue with uniformity on their monitors? I realize at this price point some uniformity issues are normal and I'm not sure if I'd want to risk exchanging it and potentially getting another monitor that looks worse.

Overall, I'm really happy with these monitors especially for the price I paid and with all of the features that they include. I was never going to spend $1500 (as much as my Mac mini) on a single Studio display never-mind the 2 needed for my setup and even the "non-apple" 5K display options are still expensive at around $800 each.

I been using this LCD on my Mac and a Windows laptop for many months (since March) but don't have any issues like this. It's still the best LCD I've even owned.

Here's an example of image retention on the Dell S2725QC after watching a fullscreen YouTube video for 50 minutes with a stationary camera angle and a couch in the background. I scrolled down the page and you can see a clear outline of the couch. (Visible on dark grey, invisible on white/light grey)

These ghost images fade completely (usually in under 5 mins). I'm not really happy about this quirk but I guess it's considered "normal" for newer high resolution IPS displays? I've never experienced this on my older 1080p monitors so I'm not sure whether to exchange/return. I've already exchanged 1 out of my 2 units for a dead pixel. There's not many other monitors out there with these specs at a similar price point. 😔
