If only I had no tinnitus, I would said lots of [CENSORED] towards Apple since those are top studio headphones (lol yeah!). And I mean 3.5mm version. Made lots of tracks in these back in the days and needed just a slight amount of tuning on KRKs

I’ll jump on the bandwagon hoping these don’t get discontinued.

While the wires can be a bit vulnerable to damage if mishandled (I have a family member who manages to wreck a pair every few years or so), the earpods are generally quite useful (and preferable to the Airpods which are too easy to lose, with batteries that degrade over time).

Really hope they aren't discontinued. I've always used them with my iPod/phone and use for work calls. I prefer wired to wireless, but main reason for buying these is Apple's earbuds have been one of the last I can find that haven't changed to the in-ear canal type earphones - I find Apple's much more comfortable to wear.

Awww, man! I like the Earpods, as they are easier to keep hold of than those little Airpods that can likely get lost very easily. I do have to replace a pair every couple of years, but it's worth it. I like the little volume control and built-in microphone; the latter can be handy if I make a video with me wearing some kind of costume or mask that muffles my voice and I set up a "double system" for recording my voice onto my iPhone or an iPod Touch to then combine with the video footage in the editing stage. I'm going to also soon be getting the USB-C version to use with the 4th-generation iPad Air I recently got.

no, they shouldn't, they are decent sounding on a budget and very reliable too. A little less techie, using it sometime feels like tech detox.
Anyone really on a budget stopped buying Apple’s a long time ago, though. ;) Apple’s mic isn’t particularly superior, it’s just wired. All wired mics sound better than wireless. Perhaps Apple has changes that allow wireless on the new phone to sound as good as wired?

This is so wildly inaccurate I have to think you're just posting with this tone to start a fight

Read the comments here and you'll see how widely incorrect your assumptions are

Lol. Nope. Not inaccurate in the slightest. And no, 100 comments on a Macrumors article is not indicative of anything from the real world. EarPods became irrelevant the day Apple stopped including them for free with iPhones. No one buys them for $19.

Okay, conspiracy time - let's all run out to Target and clean them out of discontinued EarPods so they can make room for new inventory.

Hope not. After my AirPods 3, Beat Solo, and AirPod Max all died, I’ve gone back to wired headphones. It’s a little more cumbersome, but I doubt any firmware will ever brick them.

I never really had a problem with 3.5 mm. Apple missed a marketing opportunity to toot its own DAC chip horn internal to iOS, etc. devices. Instead, we have to go big dongle DAC or a plethora of cheap junk DACs or; Apple chip DAC inside the connector of the lightning or USB-C headphone. So, they still MAKE a great DAC, but removed this sesame seed size chip to the connector or 3.5 mm adaptor. Just, bizarre.

ughhh i really hope this isn't true, i use these for everything, from gaming to my old iPods and iPhones. i buy a new set like every year

I’ll buy my wife several extra units. You get quite a few for what you’d pay for AirPods and they’ll likely last longer too.

You can pry my AirPods Pro 2 from my cold, dead hands but she doesn’t like them and prefers old fashioned EarPods which I get given her propensity for setting things down and not remembering where she put them and for sleeping with them in.

Well, if this is true, I am going to stock up on a few pairs. I use the USB-C ones with my Windows work computer, and I keep a couple pairs in our vehicles just in case me need headphones and we don't have our AirPods. Sometimes the wired connection is just better even if the EarPods are inferior quality.

first off, they should keep the usbc ones.

secondly, it'd be kinda cool, if there was a hybrid version of this that was like the existing usbc ones, but also had bluetooth and a battery, so that, one could unplug it, and it'd be able to be used wirelessly, but still with the benefit of the better microphone, better volume / track control buttons, and, the ability to just plug directly into the phone if the battery does run out on the go.

lol i buy a pair like every year. i use them for gaming on a daily basis since they don't make my head sweat like most gaming headsets. the mic quality is really good too as others have mentioned. my brother uses an expensive beyerdynamic gaming headset and the mic on the earpods sounds better

looking at amazon, i see the old ASIN B0CHXC5ZDX OOS, but a new ASIN B0DCH8VDXF in stock. it's in a weird state with '6k sold' but only one three star rating, but it's sold directly by amazon
