This is bad news for me as I still use these. All airpod type headphones I’ve tried don’t stay in my ears as well as these so I always go back to them.

Time to stock up I think!

I doubt it very much, first because they still sell them like hot cakes and second because they recently moved the packaging from plastic to carboard only. Why making the effort to only discontinue them soon after?
How do you know they sell like a battery breakfast item?

I need to grab a pair or two to stash away. They’re still my favorite as far as basic 3.5mm earbuds go.

Headphone jack, lightning, sure, but the USB-C? I like Earpods more than the others I've tried along the years. Would suck to see them go.

Well…new AirPods were just announced.

So much for all the gloom and doom❗️

anyone know how to check if a product is discontinued on apple's website or not

This is a back up headphone, like probably some others have, and mine has been trusty for YEARS. Maybe I should grab a USB-C version and have the back up longevity I need. Interested that this would go bye-bye as wired headphones are making a mild comeback, at least in my area.
That's what I did, I think they were ~ $18 on Amazon.

Well the rumor about the imminent demise of the EarPods was wrong. 3.5mm, Lightning and USB-C are still for sale on the Apple website. Maybe later? Seems doubtful at this point.

So Apple charges $9 for USBC-3.5 adapter, $19 for ANY Earpod, but $29 for USBC-Lighting and $35 for Lighting to 3.5.

The lightning dongles are clearly priced as a “penalty” to those who still have older Apple products. The profit margin is either enormous on one set or the subsidize the other set of items.
