Ive been a iphone user since the 3G came out and ive always upgraded to the latest device... I was a bit tired of ios and bought a samsung captivate... Like the op said i like the big screens and different form factors the manufatures I've done but yet android is still very clunky... I mean i almost can't use the device when it's syncing... 1ghz and still slows down? That's crazy!! They really need to refine the os so it could be smooth like ios... One thing i like with android is i didn't need to plug the phone to my laptop once!! Everything was downloaded via wifi or 3g... Another thing i like is the integration of apps through the android os... You take a picture click on share and you can send it via facebook, twitter, flickr, email , txt etc... While ios you can only email txt or send to mobile me... Pretty boring let me tell you... Oh and flash works pretty well for me... But in the end i like ios better and i can't for ios 5 and the iphone 5 :)

Had the iPhone 4 for a month last summer and got awful reception in my house so I went to Verizon and got a Droid Incredible. Was a good phone until the latest update and got brutal battery(2-3 hours). Verizon would do nothing for me so I rooted and have been pretty happy. Having an iPad 2 and a Mac plus I still use my old iPhone 3G as an iPod I can't wait to get the iPhone 5 this summer!! I just like the mobile Apple experience and really do regret getting rid of the iPhone 4 even though I couldn't get service!

Glad you decided to come back to the dark side!

 What are you talking about?

I upload pics directly from my iPhone to FB, Twitter, Flickr, and more all the time.

Anyway, it's an interesting discussion, and I'm glad there are more options for people. The iPhone is great for me, but the Android OS is great for others. Different strokes.

What i mean is when you are in the photo app and press the share button you don't have the option to directly share it to the app but instead you have to go to the specific app to do so...

Podcaster isn't bad too. Crash a bit though. One nice this is that is has push notifications for new podcasts (limited to 5 feeds I think).

I upgraded my wife to the iphone 4 last month. Having never used an iphone before I think it's a really nice phone. My droid does most of the same stuff, they just do it differently. Seems like the main advantages the iphone has are smoothness of operation, quality of apps and itunes. The apps we both have are nicer on her iphone. Mine does some things hers can't do, but it's all in what you prefer. I could see an iphone user not being happy with an android phone. I didn't notice mine not being smooth until I started playing with my wife's phone. It's not a major difference but it is there. I think both platforms have their strong points and can learn things from the other. Competition is wonderful for us.

As others have already said, Android is not there yet, it's not ready, it doesn't even have a hardware UI Acceleration so a dual core 1GHz phone can't match the first iPod touch in smoothness.

I will not even consider Android until there is:

Hardware UI Acceleration, everywhere.
Dual core support
On time updates for all devices, mandatory.

Or how about 1-2 devices released a year. AT MAX. Nothing more annoying than having your brand new investment become obsolete in two weeks.

went from 3GS to Inspire 4G. it only cost me $20 and i didn't feel like paying $400 for a cell phone anymore. did get the iPad 2 though

love the google navigation and the 4.3" screen. hate the flakiness and the fact that you have to run anti-virus. the market sucks compared to the app store but there are enough good apps that i don't care. don't use my phone that much anyway.

my wife has been on the iphone since the 3G so i'm just going to get the cheapo phones from now on even though i don't use it that much

i've owned all the iphone models and switched last week to the Nexus S and haven't turned back. T-Mobile's 3G services seems better includes free built in tethering. There's something to be said for pure vanilla Android along with the best free navigation app and superior voice control.

Then again, I'm sporting an iPad as well. IMO I have the best of both worlds.

Actually there are only one or two really top devices from each manufacturer each year.

Samsung Galaxy S was the best Android phone in 2010, HTC Desire HD being the second best.

It'll probably be the same in 2011,

Galaxy S II the best, something from HTC the second best.
