I agree. You should do this and then get it repaired or replaced when you get back home at an Apple store.

They reduced the price for AppleCare+ Members too $29.

Yeah but I have to pay $130 to get AppleCare+, and then another $30 to get the screen replaced. Why not just pay to have the screen fixed? I already have carrier insurance so if something goes wrong I have to go through them anyways (since it's a lease and replacing devices on T-Mobile's JOD is kind of a nightmare).

I wonder how screen replacements at apple stores will work now that the phone has an IP rating. I know other manufacturers with IP rated phones will pressure test them after a repair to make sure the rating is intact. Will Apple be able to do this at their stores or is the IP rating lost once a repair has been performed.

They actually probably replace the device. They did that for me with my 6s which was slightly similar.

What part of voiding warranty don't you get?! Be it apple or your carrier, if anybody else other than the "authorised" personnel touches your phone, you LOSE warranty.

Why pay for carrier insurance if you think it's a nightmare to use it? Have you filed a claim with them?

First question, did you use a case? If so I'm sorry that it happened and please post which case you have so that we can avoid it.

If a case was not used don't post your sob story. I see a dozen of these, "I dropped my phone without a case" and people don't learn. We never plan on dropping our phones so protect your precious at all times. Phone dropped with no case = A damaged phone. Very simple if you ask me. Or better yet pony up for Apple care if you don't want to pay $30 for a decent case.

Did you read the first post and the first sentence? Being kind of harsh on the OP.

It's a glass phone, if you're buying without any sort of coverage, im. It sure what you are thinking... but it's hard to sympathize with breakage under that scenario.... I mean, you decided to accept any damage that came your way by not buying coverage of some sort.

You need to read. The OP says he has carrier insurance.

OP said in first post...
"I don't have AppleCare and it's cheaper to just pay the fee of $150, but if I can get the glass replaced somewhere else I'd much rather."
[doublepost=1474854229][/doublepost]Ah I see above he has t mobile insurance. So I guess I don't understand why not take advantage of the insurance you're paying for?

I'm talking about paying Apple to replace the screen. It's ~$10 cheaper than buying AppleCare.

I meant having the phone replaced outside T-Mobile, like if Apple gave me a new one, since my lease is tied to my IMEI of the device. I've not done it with T-Mobile, but with Verizon when my Moto X got replaced by the manufacturer they gave me a lot a **** about it for that reason.

I have carrier insurance, which replaces the whole phone entirely.

Because the iPhone 7 is in such hot demand, chances are that they won't have one for a long time, and I don't want to have to wait till November if I can just get the screen fixed (and maybe even potentially for free like what happened with my 6 once).

Then why does OP complain/cry about a broken phone without a case in use? Spend the money on insurance and keep it moving. No need to tell us, dropped phone with no case = broken phone. People should know that by now. I call it tough love! Protect your stuff!

I have an idea but it might take a little work. How about you add a line to your service get the iPhone 7 you want and sell the broken one on line. Take the money you get for the sold iPhone to pay off the first line. People will buy anything, my friend did this and he got full value for a broken screen iPhone. Good luck.

This.

Wonder how Apple is going to handle making sure they're water resistance remains after a repair of having device open? Yea? I bet your right they'll just exchange this one but as they receive training I wonder how reapplying the water proof seal etc exactly works... hmm
