Signed up with my old BBM account (Verizon, so no iPhone until 2011). It didn't pull in any of my old contacts, which is stupid. I'm already less than pleased with the app.

Not to mention it can't find friends who use BBM based on my contacts or FB friends. Even Snapchat can do that, why can't BBM?

Now we just need a time machine to head back to 2006!

I bet you $1 that most of the BlackBerry Messenger users signed in will just be iOS and Android users.

I don't need it. I just ordered a Z10.

Boy are you gonna regret that purchase. Not trying to flame, but I just can't see anyone going with a blackberry these days. It really is a horrible phone, running a horrible OS, with horrible apps. Why the heck would you go that route?

Because unlike other services, just knowing your phone number or email is not enough to contact you, which is a good thing.

This is BB10, I wouldn't have bought a classic Blackberry, in the same way I only bought my Cube because OSX was coming.

I mean, I've just heard people begging for this...

"PLEASE," they cried. "Can't somebody just give us a communication application that makes it harder to communicate!?"

Not to be a party pooper, but it’s pretty pathetic for a multibillion dollar company to do a delayed, half-assed rollout after a very publicly failed launch. WhatsApp with 300M users and Tango with 75M users can continue to handle their loads and signups quite well, you’d think RIM's second launch would’ve been handled a bit better instead of this “sign up and we’ll see how it goes.”

Not there?

I searched for everything I could think of on my iPhone 5 (BBM, Blackberry, Blackberry messenger, etc.) and it wont show up in the search results.

However, your direct link works.

This is my favorite thread. People finding any reason at all to praise Blackberry, and numerous witty responses from people living on Earth.

I've tried Whatsapp, great app, I wish iOS would allow users to select default app's as that would be my MMS of choice.

That said, iMessage is free internationally between iPhones, no? I wish it could be opened cross platform. It'd make sense for Apple to combine FaceTime and iMessage into one application (shame licensing matters kept FaceTime from being open-source, I remember the excitement when Jobs mentioned this during the keynote).
...

yes, it's free, but you/other side run the risk of sending it as a reg text and getting charged international text rate if using phone numbers.
