Tried most Smartphones

I enjoy technology for the most part. Sometimes though you just want your stuff to work. The VZ iPhone4 simply works.

The Android phones are really maturing. Problem is the front facing camera remains an unfulfilled promise - a bit like the iPad.

The battery life from an Android based phone (I think I've had them all) versus the iPhone4 is simply not comparable.

Like I said, the iPhone simply works in all aspects.

I've always wondered, for the people who switched, does it take time to get used to not having data + talk at the same time? Personally, I use it ALL the time, on almost every phone call. So, I guess my question is, is it easy to get used to that feature not being there?

Been very Happy with VZW. Was on ATT with my old 3G, Jumped on the girlfriends plan to save money. I have at least 3 bars here at home, 3G coverage everywhere and voice everywhere I go, And I go out to some places that ATT cannot get. I put a Griffin Survivor case on the phone since im always out working in my shop. Jailbroke it and put 3Gunrestrictor on it as well. Now I facetime with my brother in alaska wherever I am. We were driving down the road today, he face timed me and I leaned the phone up on the dash and he got to see where I was going. Great product, great cell service, everything I want in a phone this does

Not everyone likes using speakerphone, and there is wifi where I am 95% of time the time, so I never have any issues.

Furthermore I can still send and receive texts while talking on the phone, so this is definitely a non-issue for me.

Anyways, I am too enjoying my new phone and Verizon service has been great. I am thankful they finally have decent phone outside of android.

I returned two Verizon ip4's because of horrible data (6 kbs) speeds and GPS that was unusuable - jumping to 200 Meters away when standing still with a clear view to the sky. I think I had a defective phone, but Verizon would not exchange. Their recommendation was to subscribe to Verizon Navigator.

Anyone having GPS problems? Every GPS app I use loses signal constantly.

Glad the ViPhone works for you OP!

Hopefully more people follow your lead and start making the switch pronto!

The more people switch, the better for me :D

That is kind of sad that you need people to leave before your service gets better.

That tells a lot.

Did you do anything special with the battery? Any conditioning (draining battery all the way down etc)

I'm real happy with my iPhone on Verizon. The data speeds are livable. The phone itself is great, fast, everything works like it should.

It's a LiPo battery, none of that matters, I promise. LiPos work until they don't, they don't care if you condition them, they don't care if you leave them fully charged all the time and never unplug it, or let it die over and over again.

Chances are you, like most iPhone owners, played with it constantly in your first few days of ownership, downloading apps (which sucks battery because of the sustained WiFi or 3G connection), playing with GPS functions, etc.

LiPo is an entirely different technology than what is in all of the other phones, it doesn't have "memory" or any of that junk. Now, if it overcharges is explodes into a fireball, but thankfully there is a chip in the phone that prevents that.

I am enjoying the phone a lot. I moved from the droid x to the iphone and the internet coverage is a lot better then the x. I stream pandora all day and the x would cut in and out throughout the day at work, but w/ the iphone it works flawlessly. I am glad I made the switch.

This is very interesting. I am waiting until this summer to consider moving to VZW (two 3GS's on a family plan expire in July) but was hearing from others that the data on the iPhone was slower than the Droid X in side-by-side comparisons. I think it is just a matter of where you are and how the network handles the traffic.

how does it check movie times while on the phone :)

Wow this is really getting old. I thought antennagate was bad. You at&t guys appear to be a special group. You are tring so hard to separate from everyone....

I have an ATT iPhone, a VZW iPhone which I'm testing and a Droid x. Data is slower on both the VZW iPhone and Droid x compared to the ATT iPhone.

I was considering making a switch too but both ATT and VZW are equal in my area except for data speed which ATT is at least 50-100% faster.

Depends on area too but only people like me an ATT customer would know the difference. A VZW customer who has always been a VZW customer wouldn't.

What VZW gives you in my area is 'just enough' data speed to do everyday stuff. I see the difference in streaming video and audio with buffering.

I never had ATT, but I go to school in a very low cell service area. All my friends with ATT iPhones can't make calls within the school buildings and often drop calls anywhere on the school campus and within the immediate vicinity. I'm able to make calls and have 3g data everywhere inside the school. My download speeds aren't great, usually hovering around 1mb, but it's worth it to me to have service everywhere. My iPhone did struggle with battery for the first few days, but then I restored it and my battery improved dramatically. I was losing about 6% of battery per hour regardless of what I did. I've been using my phone for the past 2 hours and only lost 1% of battery now, which trounces my old droid

You forget that many people use earbuds with inline mics, thus making phone call + data relatively painless.

True and I had forgotten about this. I guess cause I do not use these either.

I own a Droid x, have the AT&T ip4, and had bought two VZW ip4's (which I kept for 5 days before returning). I'll leave the VZW ip4 out of the comparison as I believe there was a hardware problem with the phone. Benchmarking the Droid X to the AT&T ip4, the ip4 was twice as fast on downloads. It was 2 - 3 times as fast on uploads. These tests were done over a 3 month period.

Voice was better on Verizon until the VZW ip4 came out. Now they are comparable. Not sure if that is due to the reduced load on AT&T (from customers going to VZW) or AT&T improvements to coincide with the Verizon release.

All of my speed tests were done from the same general area. YMMV.

download problems

I made the switch to the iPhone 4 on Verizon. I originally had a Droid1 with Verizon, but switched to the iPhone. Does anyone else have any download problems? It takes forever to download one app from the app store. the store itself and safari are also slow with loading. I don't remember my Droid ever taking that long. I love the phone, but that kind of bothers me. I took the first one back and got it exchanged, thinking it was a bad phone, but this one does it too.

My service is already better, but if more people make the switch it's going to get a whole lot better

What is so sad about that? :(

That you and your fellow ATT company have to lose customers and lose the short-reign at the top with most customers to have better service. That only makes me hope that Verizon puts ATT out of business.

Based on my experience with Verizon the last 2 weeks, I hope you never get your wish! Neither of these carriers are anything to brag about.

I had the same issues. Did you port your number from another carrier? I ask because I encountered a number of issues on my port. Also, I used the program Nice Trace to see what was going on. I found a lot of issues on hops between verizon servers. They weren't interested in following up, but I was seeing a 100% or higher packet loss on some of their boxes.

It was a brand new number on a new plan. I still don't understand why it does it. My Droid never had a problem like that. It's just weird. I really like the phone though. I've never had a problem with any Apple products or Verizon.
