The childlike impatience surrounding this inanimate Chinese made object, ownership of which is 1000% non mission critical for anyone, is profound.

12 months ago, the Apple Watch was merely a rumor. Prior to that, for your entire life, you somehow survived without one.

But now that you've ordered one, you can't possibly wait for it another minute. The nerve of Apple! How dare they!

If they had charged your credit card and held your money hostage all this time, I could understand some frustration. They did not.

If we could harness the analytical power, time/effort spent discussing tracking, shipping, the tears, and general sheer obsessiveness about the delivery of the Apple Watch, we could solve world hunger. Instead, from the hot air generated by this one forum, we are contributing to global warming.

Let it go people. It's a WRIST WATCH. You don't need it. You want it. It will get here when it gets here. You did fine without it your entire life. It's not going to redefine you when it comes. It's not going to give you whiter teeth or get you laid. I repeat, it is a WRIST WATCH.

Best post of all time.

First of all i don't care about a government that gives out free **** to every free loading hood rat in cali thats why there economy is so **** , 2nd nestle gets all there water from cali also not my fault cali lets them do that, 3rd cali is already sinking into the ocean so i don't really care its a pretty useless state anyways. I'm sure apple will just change there headquarters whenever they want there rich so who cares right.

Just curious, what state are you from that's so useful?

However, 38mm is simply too small and clearly the wrong size for many of us.

On what grounds? Were traditional watches "simply too small and clearly the wrong size" for decades, or just since the watch makers decided to go on a "bigger is better" kick about 10-15 years ago?

So I take it this 38mm paper mockup looks just fine and dandy to you because it's a "traditional watch" size?

It's been shown numerous times that photo angles distort the apparent size of a watch on a wrist. Also, you have no band attached, and it's a flat image. Plus half of it is on your hand and not your wrist.

You could wear either size and it would look great
For a lot of people (male and female) 42mm is just too big

Too big? The 42mm is on the small side compared to modern watches. The 38mm looks way undersized on that guy's wrist.

Rationalize all you want but the 38mm is on the small side based on today's criteria.

I'm just glad we have a choice :)

But apart from all these points, it looks awesome ;)

Just because you prefer 38mm doesn't mean "42mm is way too big." One may be better than the other depending on the wrist size, and a few people are lucky to have in between wrist sizes that can pull off either.

I agree with what you say, that's why I said it's great we have a choice

Based on current wrist watch trends, the majority of modern men's watches on the market are 40mm and over. In fact oversize, 45mm+, has been in fashion for over a decade and has been the focus for brands like Bell & Ross, Graham, Hublot, Panerai, U-Boat, Shinola, and has even influenced brands like Omega, Breitling, Tag, and Oris. Even 40mm borders on being undersized for men these days. Many ladies watches are now hitting 40mm.

One of the fastest growing brands in the world, Invicta, is even putting out watches with total diameters including the crown upwards of 66mm!

While it may have been normal in the 1960-70's, 38mm is considered undersized for a men's watch based on current watch trends.

I'm not saying that men shouldn't wear a 38mm watch as that is totally up to each person to decide. Just like there are a bunch of collectors who prefer classic watches from the 60's that is a decision that is entirely based on personal preference.

But as a watch collector, I also need to relate what the watch size trends for the greater worldwide market have been.

Many ladies watches are still quite a bit less than 38mm. The Shinola watch that I would have bought if I thought I could pull off two watches at the same time is only 34mm, and while that's only one example, a little searching shows that many of the major watch brands (yes, including Rolex) are making a nice selection of women's watches at less than 30mm.

The point is that watch size, regardless of trends, is always going to be a personal decision and watch makers understand that. If they get it, why can't forum members?

And I'm STILL waiting for the OP to tell us what his original quoted shipping range was. I'm thinking the silence is because it was "June" and he will be getting his watch in June, so there was no actual "bump" and this entire thread is pointless.

I keep checking back here for this info as well.

Ok I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I wasn't saying that women's watches were over 40mm. I was just pointing out that many brands are coming out with women's watches that are going up to 40mm. Rolex is not a good example of the trends as they tend to be very conservative with their sizing and don't change their designs very much.

On the other hand the majority of modern men's watches are over 40mm with a significant amount measuring 45mm and over.

And again no matter what the trends are the watch that a person chooses to wear is a personal choice that only they can make.

Based on the watches that I own I would never feel comfortable wearing a 38mm watch just like I no longer wear any of my 40mm watches either.

Personally I like 44-48mm and wish the Apple Watch was a little larger.
