I've had an iPhone 6s 64GB since last August. I used only Android phones from 2010 to 2016, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Android is great for customization including moveable widgets and third party launchers. But software updates are often delayed or nonexistent. As of last month, only 7% of Android devices were running Nougat (Android 7.0 and up), which was released in fall 2016. Also, my iPnone runs faster and smoother than any Android phone I've ever owned.

Did you leave Android for Apple or visa versa or....??
Nobody tells me that I can only use one platform, and not the other. I use both iOS and Android. I appreciate iOS integration with my Macs, and at the same time I enjoy the variety Android has to offer.

What I can say is, if I am paying a premium, I will pick Apple. I will never pay premium for an Android device (ie. Samsung, Sony, etc). A cheap Xiaomi offers more bang for the buck than the premium Android brands.

If there are less icons on the screen (along with text) then the icons can be larger along with the text. Some sub menus have the tiniest of fonts and this too should be properly addressed. Some of us will be happy to have a bit less on the screen if it is legible and well done.
Ah gotcha. Yeah you can't make the icons any bigger on the 5S, but you can have larger icons (and UI) on the 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone models.

Ive recently made the switch from 7+ to the S8 & TBH I'm really enjoying it. I've always had an iPhone since the original & was really worried about leaving the ecosystem but there are simple work arounds for most things - I have my calendar syncing with iCloud, Google Photos now handles my photos, music works great if you subscribe to Apple music (I don't so I'm using Amazon music instead of iTunes Match), I now use Whats app instead of iMessage (my friends aren't heavily in iMessage), Hangouts instead of Facetime . It was a bit of a faf getting everything working initially, but now I have it just as I like it & I'm really pleased I made the switch.

The S8 is a great phone, wireless charging is so convenient & the on screen keyboard has the numbers at the top (it's a revelation) - however the two things I miss are the awesome Touch ID on the 7+ & that when it's hooked up to my car stereo, it doesn't work in iPod mode with playlists etc being controlled from the head unit.

TL;DR Moving from a 7+ to S8 has been OK!

Anyone here actually using both iPhone and the new Samsung S8/S8+? Please share your experience.

What part of iPhone retained you as a user? Is the S8 delivering your expectations? Did you come across any pleasant surprises, or unexpected inconveniences?

I am. Must say iMessage even though you can't customize the messaging app like android it's still not enough. It's always a third party app to do something better with android also google leaves you high and dry when it comes to actually backing up your material. Once again third party app with androids which doesn't make it feel less i.e. a complete experience your scattered everywhere to get things done

ho

how is battery life

I was always an android person. Had the first few iPhones then I switched and had new phones every year until I had the S7 edge and it was awful. I switched to an iPhone 7 plus. Last week I bout an S8+, and guess what, it's going back Tuesday. I really hate the curved screen. Makes it hard to hold, and the lack of bezels made it even worse. I couldn't type no matter which keyboard I used. Plus I had a lot of apps crashing, which is really unacceptable on a brand new phone.
