I passed that phase getting any white front panel phones awhile back...

White front panel is only good for maybe an iPod classic or if you don't want to see smudges especially if it was glass on both sides. I remember having a white Nintendo DS lite and the shoulder buttons got dirty fairly easily. No plans buying a white PS Vita. People go through color phases all the time. My white front phase didn't last long.

Only white devices I liked was my glacial silver HTC One M7 but had plenty of black bezel around the screen. White and silver look good together. And my off-white Sega Dreamcast. I like that orange light that appears when I turn it on. I don't mind consoles being white but not pocketable gadgets.

Do you truly believe that a white iPhone is going to be much cooler than a black one when exposed to direct sunlight?
I don't. It's just the bezel that's colored differently, the rest is practically the same.
Especially if you use it in your car, the sun is absorbed by the backcover of the iPhone, not the front. And there really is not much of a difference between silver and space grey..

I sure thought so - I've played Ingress since 2014 and my 6+ (black) got REALLY hot in the sun after walking around for hours. My 6s+ (white) does not get even half as hot while playing for hours in the summer sun. I realize it's hardly scientific but I chalked it up to the white bezel. It was my assumption/conclusion but I definitely admit I could be wrong.

Right, in the car, with most of the UV blocked by the car's windows - heat will be ambient temperature.

For those with a white iPhone, what kind of case do you use (if any)?
I currently have a 64GB iPhone SE Silver/White and using a clear case.

Black glass sucks. Talk about a fingerprint magnet.
LOL The color of the bezel doesn't determine how many fingerprints it attracts.

Color of phone does not matter to me but the bezel MUST be black!
I agree. The screen doesn't go all the way to the inner edge of the bezel so on white bezel iOS devices, there is the white bezel, then a black border THEN the screen. Looks goofy IMO. At least with the black bezel, that border is hidden. And when watching videos whose aspect ratios don't match the screen, any letterboxing or pillarboxing "fades" into the black bezel.

But Apple only produces a black bezel on Space Gray devices so I can't take advantage of any of the nicer colors. Last year I bought an iPod Touch 6G (blue w/white bezel) because Costco had a great deal on that color alone. I wasn't thrilled with the white bezel, but the savings was worth it. This time around, my cell provider has a great price on the SE's but has never had the Space Gray in stock... so I went for the Silver/white. Not such a big deal for the iPod Touch and iPhone because I don't often watch long videos on those devices. The iPad Pro however, HAD to be Space Gray/Black! :D

To me the color matters not and just would rather it be black. I do not consider the iPhone a fashion statement but just a very nice tool that gives me the mobility to get out of the office!

Use your white bezel phone in a super thin clear case if you need a case. Looks slick.

I always liked the white back and black front iPhone 5c.

I'd love to have a black and gold iPhone.

I would be highly interested in a semi-scientific test!
Definitely planned on buying the black iPhone 7, but if the white bezel has a bigger positive influence on the temperature in the sun, I would surely reconsider.

My black iPhone 4 once overheated when I navigated with Google Maps.
AC in my car was on, the sun was really burning that day. But I partly blamed the ancient A4 Chip, which is really stressed when navigating.
Either way, if one iPhone color would have a functional advantage over the others, I wouldn't hesitate to buy exactly that color.

I don't know why apple is not introducing more colors with the black bezel. And i don't like space grey color,(iPhone 5 black slate color looked much better)so i have to buy other colors (gold or rose gold)with white bezels

1. Cases look better on the black front phone. If I slap on a clear case on my gold iPhone, it looks ...

... like a condom? Doesnt matter what is the colour, it is still a condom, imo. I have white one with a sattle brown leather case and it is beautiful. Of course, the beauty is inside the head of the watcher...

2. If you dim your screen, it looks silly with the white bezels since iOS is all white. If there was a dark mode this wouldn't matter.

Are black bezels better when you dim the screen? I really cant say that there is any difference between my 1+1 (black) and iphone (6S+, white)... Anything else than my iphone looks like a ping pong bat next to the 1+1 - thanks to the bezels but the same bezels are in a black model too.

I suggested before Apple should alow for custom iPhone bodies. They use to do engraving, why not give customers an option to order different color backs and fronts.

I don't think any tech company offers custom smartphone styling. It would be a nice option to have even if it was for a limited window of time.

I tried to white one when I first bought my iPhone 5 and ended up hating it. Today I'm trading in my iPhone 6 for a iPhone SE Space Gray 64gb. Couldn't be happier. ☺

I liked the black phones until iOS 7 when Apple decided the entire UI was going to be white. The white UI with a black front is just weird to me, so I switched to a white phone. If iOS 10 FINALLY gets a dark mode (fingers crossed) I'll go black this cycle.

Yep. Always thought the black front/white combo was beautiful, all the way back to when the 3G/3GS had it. If they did that today it's what I'd buy hands down.

I prefer my phone gave black bezels. I miss having ogives with color like my lumia. My yellow abs orange phones were beasts.

Someone else with the exact same opinion as me. iOS ≤6 looked like it was designed for black bezels. iOS ≥7 looks like it was designed for white bezels. I used to always buy black phones and tablets. White looked ugly to me. But when I got an iPhone 5s, I decided to get silver and I've only bought white bezeled devices ever since.

Motorola does.

I had black phones for many years... When I got into the iOS ecosystem, I got black iPhone 4, slate iPhone 5, then decided to get gold iPhone 6 and gold iPad air 2 since I wanted to see what the white thing was about. Last year I changed both colors back to black. IMO, white/gold is flashy, I don't focus as much on what I'm viewing and it doesn't look as sleek. I'm getting tired of black again and may go for white/silver but that won't keep it inline with my other Apple products...
