Wow... the down votes, the grammar police... hah... while being an Apple device user myself, I find myself rather disappointed by the attitude of many here. :(

I presume the majority of the down votes are because this thread doesn't really have anything to do with iPhones. It has to do with users of iPhones (or perhaps other phones) who may have expressed unhappiness that there was not an iPhone 5, then purchased iPhone 4S when preorders were up.

The thread feels inflammatory at best, trollish at worst. Or maybe vice versa.

I further wonder what the intended outcome of the thread was, i.e.: what would have led you to *not* being "rather disappointed by the attitude of many here"? Did you want to get people to join you in calling out those who wanted a 5 and bought the 4S? Or am I just missing something?

Actually, it started for my own personal enjoyment. :)

I somewhat agree.

It is pretty annoying to see hundreds of people on this site completely bash Apple and say if it's just an iPhone 4S they definitely won't buy and by saying all this crap getting people riled up and turning threads into arguments taking away focus of the subject of the actual thread.

THEN they buy one!!!! WTF doesn't make sense and is obnoxious.

why? that's what we are suppose to do.

Complaint and get the stuff. AND complaint again till next iteration comes.
Cycle continues. It's the law of the nature.

i don't understand the disappointment... this is the iphone product cycle. there have been no surprises. now if there is no design change next year then i can understand the disappointment since it would break the normal product cycle. but right now apple is doing exactly what they have done in past releases. they even followed the same naming scheme.

How is it the same cycle? Apple released the original all aluminum iPhone and then the next yr released the iPhone 3G with a plastic back. They only released the same design ONCE in 4 years (the 3GS after the 3G). It seems NOW there seems to be a cycle but prior to this release, there was definitely no "cycle" in place.

I agree with you about the attitude of many here.....and was ready to back you until your "fanboism" remark. Your argument lost all validity after that reply.

When iPhone 4 was first leaked by Gizmodo, alot of people hated it until they turned around and stated it was the most beautiful phone ever.

With the 4S, people hated it because it was the same design but many still bought it anyway.

When people complained about cheap plastic from Android phones, they also forget how the iPhone 3G/3GS were the same way.

When white iPhones were introduced, some people HATED the color and thought it was too girly before buying one for the 4S because that is the color Apple is pushing more in their recent ad.

When video calling was still unpopular before iPhone 4, a front-facing camera started to only matter more to people when FaceTime was introduced. Same with video commands now that Siri is introduced more to the masses.

Even years ago when iPhones were one of the weakest in phone photography, people justified it and said just get a P&S. Now they are salivating over that specific feature on the 4 and 4S even if they don't have Xenon flash or optical zoom.

Some people ridiculed Michael Jackson or Steve Jobs only to start appreciating them in death.

Next year, some people wiil hate when the iPhone's screen gets bigger because a few millimeters more hurts their hands so much only to start loving it at that size. It only matters to certain fanboys when Apple adds it.

People complain about anything before trying to justify their purchases once it is bought. Even I was an Apple-hater at some point before becoming an iPhone fan.

Moral of the story: Everybody can be a hypocrite.

Especially in a Apple-centric site that has lovers and haters. We all saw how people hated the changes George Lucas did on Star Wars only to see the Blu-ray sell in record numbers. Same with the record-breaking sales of the 4S. We all lied to ourselves or to each other and have been in denial several times in our life.

it was there if you wanted to see it. but most didn't want to

Just wreaks of fanboism to me.
Wouldnt "fanboism" be when a person feels such a strong personal accomplishment over a product they had absolutely no hand in creating that they create threads with the sole intent of humiliating people who dont even exist?

Where the heck are you finding anyone on this planet who declared "Apple is DEAD"? It just seems like you're looking for a fight and can't find anyone so you made up your own opponents.

I know a LOT of people who complained and made comments like "Apple is dead!" when the iPhone 4s was announced, only to pre-order Friday morning when they had the chance...

...seems terribly hypocritical to me.

As others said, so what? Who cares?

Ok, some are hypocritical...again, so what?

Have you been on this forum for long? People crying about a release one day and buying the next happens probably weekly here.

Grow up and stop worrying so much about what a few posters here say.

Relax!

It's called Human Psychology/Nature. Deal with it.

My personal favorite type of "hypocrisy" on these forums are the...

"iPad 2 is going to be such a great device, a tablet is absolutely necessary, I have already pre-ordered it..."
*3 months later*
"Selling my iPad 2 the magic is gone I used to use it a lot but now it sits on my nightstand collecting dust"

This is why I say avoid the hype at all cost many of the people touting the devices as the best thing ever will be the same ones complaining about it in a few months.
