Hello. I'm in Canada. I checked on Apple.ca and the specs say iPad Air 2 comes with Bluetooth 4.0.. BTW the iPad Air 2 ships with iOX 8 at the moment here. The upgrade to iOS9 would have to be done through iTunes store or Wi-Fi. Different countries, different strategies?
iPads are only being shipped with iOS 8 if their build date is Pre-September. Anything built after September will have iOS 9.

Yippee!

Ordered from Apple directly. Air 2 64GB Cellular

Came with iOS 9.0.2 and an "M" model # indicating BT 4.2

The models with "M" at the start of the model number have been shipping since day one.

The model numbers that start with F are refurbished models.
It is all but guaranteed that the Bluetooth 4.2 change is software only, provided by iOS 9.

Thanks a lot. So you ordered from apple.ca and got a, Air 2 with iOS 9.0.2 preinstalled. Is that it? Cause I'm about to place my order and I want iOS 9 preinstalled. Not an iPad with iOS 8 and do a upgrade.. Can you just confirm please. BTW since it will be my very first iPad and we're near Black Friday. Does Apple make incredible deals on that day? Cause if so, I can wait 15 days until November 27. Never bought on a Black Friday.

Thanks in advance

Correct, Apple.ca, Air 2, iOS 9.0.2

I wouldn't wait for Black Friday and here's why. When Air 2 came out, they were priced 10% higher than US. Now the exchange rate is VERY different. I *suspect* Apple will increase the Air 2's price to match when the iPad Pro comes out.

I would order now. That's partly why I did.

Even if the other person gets one with iOS 9.something installed, there's no guarantee you're going to have the same experience. Why is this an issue - the upgrade is easy and painless, and you're going to have to do it at some point anyway.

Apple support has told me multiple times (multiple representatives) that BT 4.2 is hardware, not software. 4.0->4.1 is a software capable upgrade. Not 4.0 -> 4.2.

I'm unconvinced that first level Apple support has accurate information on this. If the hardware were different, part numbers would have changed, and that has not happened.
Some Bluetooth 4.2 features can be added via software: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014...ings-ipv6-better-privacy-and-increased-speed/
