I got you wrong sorry (English isn't my native language lol)

Another question, does a case or a folio solve this "issue"? Or at least reduce the effect?

No worries.

Like I said earlier you need to apply considerable pressure for it to occur, so I would say with a case it wouldn't even be possible to make the screen distort.

I'm in the hunt for a new ipad (first time I'll own a tablet) is this a common issue? Should I get an ipad air 1 instead of the air 2?
Air1 has only 1gb ram (air2 has 2gb ram), so don't get it. I had air1 and it was a piece of crap. just google "air 1gb ram crashing reloading" and check apples own support forum...

Indeed. It also has a superior screen and the A8X chip. The Air had the same ram and chip as the 5s but had to push millions of more pixels.

im anxious to wait, lol.. i only ordered one device (wifi) for a xmas present, so i have to wait 3weeks to see it irl. im not sure will i buy one for myself or not.

Macrumours will drive anyone to anxiety ;)

Interesting. I only use the smart case and it's never distorted. Unless I really pressed on the back hard.

I have the WiFi only model and the one and only time I tried pressing on the back, with the device in the Apple smartcase, it easily distorted. It doesn't bother me. It has never done this otherwise and I'm not going to try it again as I don't want to cause any damage unnecessarily.

In fairness the A7 was and is still a beast that was vastly overpowered for the 5S and runs the Air just fine (it was clearly always intended to do both). RAM you can make a case about if you must, but processor wise the Air does just fine.

Don't forget those "millions of more pixels" are in the exact same screen as the iPad 4, whose A6x had half the power of the A7.

Yesterday i bought an iPad Air 2, i was a little scared because all display units at Apple Store showed this "defect". I showed it to Apple guy and i said that if my new iPad shows this issue i want a refund soon, so i opened it in the Apple Store just to test it during first boot setup...

 My iPad Air 2 64GB WiFi + Cellular Space Gray was perfect, no spot when i pressed on the back, no distortion when i pressed near apple logo... I only saw a little spot when i pressed and bend iPad very hard on the extreme right edge, but it is normal because it was due to the pressure applied on display edge and ipad is so thin... So my unit is completely different from display units... Hope this info helps you. Also the Apple guy looked at me for all time and he said that the unit seems different from display unit, but for him all was normal.

This is my first iPad and i am very very happy, it is an amazing tablet. :D

That is how mine is. I have to apply ridiculous pressure on the right side.

Thank You for being honest!!

My statement still stands "All iPad air 2's have distortion"

Some with very little pressure (like mine)
Some with more pressure
Some with lots of pressure (like idark77) (seems not to be many like this)

But they all have it period.

Now is it a big problem, well to me NO!
My wife uses it mainly and she alway props it up by the case or a pillow, and she never sees it and I never showed it to her.

The case I use, I do not see the problem any better or worse.

I also put on a Tempered Glass Screen Protector on the display, and see no difference.

But again, it really is no big deal to me, but I can see some that hold it (in the spot that causes it) to be a problem, hopefully not many.

I actually agree with what you are saying. If you push hard enough, you could probably create the distortion on all iPads.

That is also like saying all iPhone 6/6+ bend though. If you apply enough pressure they will all bend.

You are correct, all iPhone's 6 and 6 plusses do bend, BUT opposite air 2's, being most air 2's distort easily and most 6/6 plusses don't bend easily but it may be likely that some air 2's don't distort easily and some 6/6 plusses do bend easily.

Like I said, they all do it when holding (or applying slight pressure) in the right spot, You obviously DO NOT KNOW WHERE THAT IS.

Not.
Not all of them, since I tried several.
And an issue existing only if you try hard to see it, it's not a real issue

An “issue” is a topic. The distortion on the iPad Air 2 is not an issue, it’s a problem – and it truly exists.

I'm not debating about that being an issue on YOUR iPad. I'm debating about that being an issue on every iPad since I tried several and couldn't reproduce the problem.

No, I'm not just talking about just “MY” iPad. It is indeed on every iPad Air 2 because of the inherently thin design.

Saying that it is doesn't make it true. Unless you've tested every iPad Air 2 ever made, you can't say it's a problem with every Air 2.

Many people have already told you it doesn't happen on theirs.

I don't need to test every iPad Air 2 produced out there to know that it is an inherent flaw in the thin design. I have been to many Best Buys and several Apple Stores and checked their display models. I have owned a variety of iPad Air 2s – all of which have the distortion spots on the back to one degree or another.
