I agree with DoctorEgypt. In my experience, all the Air 2s have the problem to varying degrees of severety.

False.
1. I doubt neither of you have seen enough iPad Air 2 to validate that claim statistically.
2. Mine doesn't distort.

However it is an wide spread issue since my iPad Air 2 is the only iPad Air 2 that I have seen that doesn't have screen distortion.

So, has anybody gotten any permanent damage from this distortion yet? Mine distorts when I push on the back, but I honestly don't care about it as long as it doesn't become a permanent issue.

I believe it is present in all iPad Air 2s. The degree of distortion varies from each Air 2. I’m basing my statement on my experience of owning many Air 2s.

Seeing 3 different Apple Stores in two different countries plus a couple of friends who own the air 2 .... All of them everywhere have the distortion with a varying degree. I have also spoke on the phone to apple technician who said that is totally normal because it's too thin and if the distortion doesn't happen in normal use then the unit is fine.

Don't try to bend out our push hard on its back: it doesn't distort.

I just went out and pushed really hard on the door of my new Nissan 4x4. Now I have a big dent. Should I call Nissan for a replacement? Has to be defective right?

The problem is that it could take a while for a permanent issue, if any, to actually develop. I don't see why it would cause real damage but between this issue and the nasty vibrations that plague the Air 2 I'm not willing to find out.

The Air 3 will be here soon enough and the original Air and even older gen iPads are still doing just fine. :)

There might not be an Air 3, at least not any time soon.

For me, the only problem with the Air 2 is the frequent annoying loud speaker pops. I have no screen distortion issues and I've gotten used to the vibrations.

I'm not a betting person but if I were i'd give it a 99.999% chance of another iPad Air this year. That .0001% chance is if we are invaded by aliens.

Well, if there isn't a new ipad this year then I'll just keep my Air longer. Not really a big deal. I suspect they will do something though.

Just sucks that the Air 2 had to suffer from this vibration thing. BLEH.

Brilliant idea: go looking for non existent issues. You are going to find some, for sure.

That makes no sense. If they go looking for non existent issues, how could they find any then if they are truly non existent.? Meh.

Of course, there ARE issues and they are real but not everyone experiences them or cares.

Just saying.

Not at all. Forums like this could easily convince people they have issues they wouldn't have noted/cared about.
Threads like this are a good example of forum induced hysteria.

A non existent issue would be looking for something and finding nothing. Eg. distortion on an ipad air 1.

An issue which many not be immediately identified but still an issue would be what all ipad air 2's have.

Learn the difference.

I'm sure I could reproduce the issue on my Air 2 if I bent the device. I'm not going to do that though (and I'm not sure why anyone would) so I'd have to say it's not reproducible on my Air 2.

If you purposely try on an iPad air 1, you can obtain the same distortion.

For what it's worth mine doesn't have this issue either.

I was really worried because I came across this thread after I ordered my air 2 and the first thing I did was load the white Google home screen to see and nothing. I've held it normally with 1 hand, 2 hands and every which way and still no distortion. I refuse to put abnormal pressure on it at a certain angle to try and make it happen tho...

Air 2 owner for a little over a month. I've noticed no distortion when holding it - and I use it a lot!

Both in an Apple Smart Case and with no case at all, I've never seen any screen distortion.

Just ordered an apple smart case for mine tonight. Originally went with Spigen smart case, as I've always been a fan of their products but am disappointed with their air 2 case.
