From 15 in MBP to 13 Air it's really manageable for me. The fact that the resolution is the same also really helps.

However if Apple does release a 15 inch Air I would be drooling over it.

I went from a 2010 15" MBP to a 2011 13" MBA. I *love* this machine. I think the 13" screen is the perfect size for a laptop and it's so lightweight and comfortable to use. I still have my MBP but I haven't used it at all since the day I bought the MBA and really don't miss it. Don't get me wrong, the MBP is a great machine, but overkill for my needs and much heavier to carry around.

Like most other decisions when it comes to choosing a size, it really depends on what you use it for, and what you're accustomed to. I'm far too much of a Mac addict to limit myself to just one.

Yet that said as a personal (not work) laptop, my 13" MBA is as close to ideal for general tasks as they get.

Every time I see someone with a 17" laptop I cringe, especially when they are traveling with it. I had 15' and 17'' ones in the past (windows machines), and I hated taking them on the road.

The 17" MBP isn't so bad traveling by plane if you're seated in First Class or in a coach exit/bulkhead row. In the terminal area, a 17" MBP is hardly noticeable and it only weighs 6.6 pounds total. I carry mine to grad school everyday and I absolutely love it and could not imagine why I put up with a puny 13" screen for a year prior to buying my 17 incher!

13 seems to be the new mainstream

Honestly, strangely this 13" feels exactly like my 15" pro. I do not know why. I usually am on the internet browsing some things and when I do the fullscreen mode it feels just like the 15.

It does seem this way doesn't it.

I went from a 15.4" laptop with 1680x1050 res to the MBA 11" 1366x768.

Its a bit of a difference, but not one that causes too much bother after you've used it for a bit.

I will be purchasing a thunderbolt screen to do any main work on anyway, the 11" mba is really only replacing my iPad 2.

I came from a hi resolution 15" MBP (1680x1050).

I don't miss it at all. In fact, sitting at that computer now, it just seems so over-the-top big for my needs. Loving the 13" MBA.

Does anyone use the MBA 13" as their sole computer? I am about to buy a 15" because it will be my main driver for the next few years.

I switched from a 07 15" mbp to the 13" air late last year. I was tired of lugging the damn thing (mbp) around. I love the 13" air - it's fast, light and just about perfect. I would like to have just a slightly bigger screen - mostly for the docs and spreadsheets I work on usually require me to have multiple pages up and visible at the same time - which is not easy on the 13".

If Apple doesn't release a 15" air this year, I'll get a TBD, keyboard and touchpad or iMac (that I will connect my mba to) for office work - which I've been wanting to get anyway that will make any screen real estate issues go away.

Unless Apple puts the MBP's on a significant weight loss program, I can't see ever going back after using the Air. Thin and light is definitely the way to go and as much as an iPad offers even less to carry around, I can't do the kind of work I need to do at this point using it, so a laptop is still required.

For a second there I thought you were Bobby Corwen.
