Just received the 2 I ordered for my wife and I, these are pretty incredible. They are very small, but function quite nicely, they stick on the vents and don't come off. I like that the phone lies flat against my dashboard as well, easier to control and it doesn't move around.

My only concern is if I use the AC on in the summer, I'd hate to set off my water stickers in my phone.

In CA I had lots of condensation in the mornings. I would be worried about that as well.

Been using mine for about about a week. Great mount - best I've ever found. I can find a great vent to use in my Volt. Long shot, but any volt drivers have an airframe? I'll take a pic and post it, I've been using the vent above the LCD controller, to the left of the steering wheel.

If its such a worry, close the vent.

AC is fairly dry (part of its effectiveness is that it controls humidity). I wouldn't worry.

My vents don't close all the way, and even if they did they wouldn't snap shut because the airframe is sitting on top of one of the slats.

Thanks, good to know. My concern is having an ice cold phone, then walking out into a 90 degree humid day, those cold parts are going to condense. But I'm able to position the phone very low so only the very top of it gets air conditioning so I won't really worry about it too much.

My vent open and shut separately to the louvers.

I just got one of this, as expected since all my vents are in an angle, my phone is also in angle to view. But it looks pretty sturdy, it's just that whenever I try to remove my phone, somehow it moves slightly. Other than that, I'm impressed.

does anyone use this with a mophie juice pack helium case?

It'll work, but not ideally. The mophie still adds a bit of thickness to the back of the case, and the airframe's jaws are not adjustable for thickness, just width. They're rubber coated, so they'll still grip the sides of the phone, they just won't circle round the front if you get my drift.

I bought this for my Porsche Panamera and just stopped using this. Here are my reasons not to buy this product.

1) The weight on the vent led to breaking one of the leaves of the vent. I was able to fix but won't take chance again.

2) When attached to vent there is movement it just doesn't feel like a solid attachement.

3) Does get freezing cold and condenses when taken into hot enviroment.

4) to be honest vent placement my not be ideal in many cars.

5) feels like it would cost $1 to make in China but I paid $25

anyone want it for $15 shipped?

Just picked mine up from Apple today. Love it so far. Very sturdy. Holds the phone nice and tight. Love how minimalistic it is as well. Never going to even consider another type of phone carriage.

I just preordered this car mount. Hope it's not a waste of money

I have the Bondi which is flexible. Hanging off the rear view mirror, I don't have to look down to see it. I can mount it sideways, too.

No thank u, I would have to look up

That's interesting. When I'm driving the hanging Bondi keeps the phone at just slightly below eye level which seems ideal for me. I'm not really looking "up." I find that the mounts that clip to the vents or lighter force me to look down taking my eyes off the road to use the GPS.

I don't look at the GPS while I'm driving neither should u. I rely on the voice part.

Not to nitpick but it sounds like you just contradicted yourself there. If you don't use the GPS screen then why would you "have to look up" while driving?

Besides, who ever said that one should never look at the GPS screen? Whether or not it's unsafe to refer to the screen is a matter of opinion and preference.

My car has an integral GPS mounted on the dash just above the gear shift. It's not there for decoration and I've never heard anyone warn that it's unsafe to use. It's certainly not illegal. In fact I find it's even safer to use my phone hanging from the mirror on the Bondi mount.

In the end there's no objectively better solution. I only offered my personl preference and rationale. For some people a hanging mount might just look ugly. If that's the case, so be it. I'm not trying to slam your preferences, either. having a vent mount is an elegant, minimalist solution. I'm glad there are accessories available for all tastes.

Cheers.
