Has anyone who has bought the Airframe also tried the Mountek nGroove CD slot mount?
http://www.amazon.com/Mountek-nGroove-Universal-Phones-Devices/dp/B004G1L52Q/

I'd be interested in knowing how stable the Airframe is compared to the Mountek. I find the Mountek pretty secure but wouldn't mind trying the Airframe due to its low profile. I'm just afraid it won't be nearly as stable as the Mountek.

Thanks!

I had the Mountek before I got the airframe. The reason I got the airframe was because I had to look too far down with the Mountek.

I find the airframe just as stable in my car because of the way the vents and dash are situated.

Great to hear that the Airframe is just as stable. I'll have to try it out.
Thanks for your input!

Has anyone tried the AirFrame in a Mazda, more specifically a Mazda 3? How did it go?

I had it in a rental Mazda3 recently and it did ok iirc. It held onto the vent with no problems but the steep angle of the dash and vent made placement a little awkward.

I am interested in this, but looking forward to use a battery case, and i read the clip wont hold that case properly.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but i just found the Kenu Airframe stocked at Staples Canada for $24.92. Pretty neat little mount, may have to grab one

It's a great car mount. Only drawback is that you can't fit a iphone with a case that has the thickness of the Otterbox Commuter.

Cases I have that fit with no problems are:
Magpul
Tech21 Impact Mesh
Spigen Tough Armor
Diztronic TPU case

They are available on brookstone's website, so they might be available in stores as well, but I have not been able to check yet.

Had my girlfriend go pick one up for me and they didn't have any to sell. But when I checked with apple store app at the same store they had one available for pickup. So I placed the order and picking up tomorrow.

Have been using mine for about four months now, and it's been great. Doesn't move at all, and the vent it's attached to is turned off, so i can still use the others for AC/heating etc.

No wobbling or anything, even when rotating the phone whilst in the mount.

The great things about it is that it's very small, unobtrusive and easily transportable, as well as you don't need to attach anything to the windscreen and impeding your vision. Getting the other half one for her car.

To people that have this car mount....what kind of car do you have??? Vent shapes and depths are so different, the type of vent you have might affect how it works for you compared to others.

I have a 2011 Honda Civic, so I wanted to know if it works fine with the vents on my car before I consider buying it.

I bought two of these over the last couple of weeks from one of the local Apple Stores. My wife loved it so much I had to buy her one also!

Works fine in Honda Element

I think the grill shape/vents are the same or similar in the Element and the Civic. I currently have a 2005 Element with a 2011 arriving in the next month. The mount attaches easily - I've used it several times with a thin case (Cygnett) and it's good. I like the position relative to me in the driver's seat etc. and the ease of attaching aux. and charging cables. I've been considering the Proclips too, but if this one continues to work well, I'll probably just stick with it.

It works on deep vents and not so deep ones. Basically two sets of flanges go deep and two don't. The case allows you to rotate it so the right set go further to grab on to the back fins in your vent.

This CD mount is awful.
Both my brother in laws have it and I can't stand it.

Eats up well too much space around the radio where on one car they can't get to the audio controls well, on the other to ac heat etc.

Has anyone considered a RAM mount?
I had a RAM mount base modded to accept another cradle that was easier to take phone in and out - it would slide in.

Take a look at ebay auction 330858151817
This is for iphone 3 however it was the same concept.
Hard shell case, that the phone would drop into, but it would pivot.

The only reason I modded it to go with a ram mount is that overtime the pivot would war out and phone would vibrate. With ram mount base I was able to angle how I wanted, but had the easier docking than with the RAM dock.

Take a look at this mount for iPhone 4
ebay item 170936631778

What I did is I trimmed the back and glued on standard RAM mount adapter to it, then with the ball socket I was able to angle how I wanted. The original ball mount wore off.
I contacted the seller and he does not have one for 5 5c like this where the phone drops in.
They have one that sort of clips in, but it's not as slick in and out...

Just bought one.

I've gone through about 3-4 different car mounts in the past couple years, and this is by far the best i've ever used. I was actually suprised how lightweight it is, and i was hesitant that the bracket part would actually hold securely, but it grabs the vent pretty tight, no movement unless you want it to move. Also holds the phone very securely

My only complaint, and it's not the mount's fault, is that the way my vents are laid out, i can't use it in landscape.
