This is what I have been wanting from Apple for awhile. Now that someone did it and it works good I am liking it. Already played Civilization on it and some other smaller games to see it in action with the new update. Works great. Now I am surfing the web on my big screen. The ability to put one app on the tv and keep others running on the computer is also nice. I have to try it with facetime now.
So when you use this is it full screen on your TV or is it cut off on the ends?
I lose 1 inch on either side, full top to bottom. It was not very clear on my apple tv 2, but with the 3 it is clearer. Get the upgrade and it looks really good. The audio also worked after the upgrade.
depends on the source. it can be full screen, letterbox, or literally a mirror of whatever's on your computer screen.
mine worked right away with chrome (put the nba game on the tv-no cable), but I've found it's usually just some setting somewhere- be it airparrot, the app you're using (ie-chrome), or even osx's settings, that don't necessarily stay the same each time you go to use airparrot. just keep tinkering.
Before I set airparrot to airplay mirror to my ATV 3 it shows that the audio is "enabled". So I proceed to enable airplay mirror my audio status changes to "disabled" So I go ahead and set my "audio output device to airparrot" after I do that I try to got to airparrot and "enable" audio but it just doesn't work.
When I do that Airparrot immediately shuts down and removes the mirroring.
I have tried to do it many different ways but just end up with the same results.
Looks like I'll have to email them.
This is the exact same problem I am having. I emailed them and got a standard response about restarting and such. I'm a little disappointed in their customer service so far. I'll give them a week until I ask for a refund.
I emailed them about the laggyness and they sent me a link to an updated 1.6 dmg and now this works flawlessly. I would say its pretty much as smooth as using an ATV.
They responded fairly quickly to my email and said I should try a "fresh" reinstall. But I would first need their removal tool. Which is found at this link.
http://airparrot.com/faq.php
I will try it tonight.
----------
"updated 1.6 dmg"...their latest version is 1.5 I believe.
Oh they just updated to 1.3.1 beta...https://twitter.com/#!/airparrot
This beta has fixed the crashing but it hasn't actually gotten audio to work for me. How about you?
Same as you still...no crashes and still no audio.
I used the removal tool to remove all files and reinstalled 1.3.1. I also had to reinstall the audio file but still no fix.
They seem to be making updates consistently but I'll email them again I guess.
They got back to me and said to disable homesharing on the ATV then re-enable it then restart the ATV then it will work. I did this and it did work. They said it has to do with the ATV choosing a port randomly and using the same port as the audio. Not sure why it would choose at random but the fix DID work for me.
Oh and I take back what I said about their customer service. Once they found the time today, we had a back and forth email conversation for 30 minutes!
Awesome!
That did the job for me too. Thanks for helping out.
Hello, anyone try to mirror a DVD? I don't know much about this but I tried and I don't get visual. I only get a big checkered box. Since I don't really know why, I assume my video card/settings are not to par or AirParrot doesn't fully support it. It mirror my divx and iTunes movies just fine.

if i were to guess, i think apple encrypts/drm their dvd player. They even block taking screen grabs using the built in screen capturing tool.
Since I have written a few times to complain about this software I felt it would be fair to write now that I have it working.
Turns out that the OSx firewall was causing my connection issues. Hit that sorted and it works great!!!
Very impressed, quality on high at Mac fps mirroring Hulu web app is pretty good and the connection according to my tv is 720p. Very smooth video and the audio is perfectly synced with picture and overall I am pleased and I paid the $10. Well worth IMHO.
My only issue is that I am not getting it to scale to my entire tv screen, under scan adjustments help but not enough I have a letterbox type picture.
