Today Apple announced the new iPod Air and Mini 5.

Has the AirPod page also been updated, it now includes references to “Tap Into Siri” and an optional wireless charging case. I thought these were only coming when the AirPods were next updated?

The AirPods two will be a totally different set of AirPods from the original once they launch. They won’t launch likely until the fall, when Apple actually will spend more time during a presentation to show what was updated for version two.

I needed a new pair and was holding out until the event to see if any new ones would be announced. With the iPads getting announced I assume the AirPods aren't coming until later. Bought a pair at the Apple store this afternoon.

Why do you think they won't launch until the fall? I have been waiting for an update for 6 months now and all the rumors have said either Q1 or 1st half of 2019. It's been over 2 years since the last update, so I think they don't have the luxury to wait till fall.

All the recent rumors including the Hey Siri support in the iOS 12 update are pointing to Mar 25th event....

The battery of mine is dead so I will wait until the event next week and if they are not released by then I will go for the galaxy buds instead.

Bingo! Same, just waiting to see what happens. If Apple doesn't announce AirPods 2 I'll move over to Galaxy Buds for sure. If Apple does announce but they are more expensive.. and I mean by like 50.00 or more then I'll still move to Galaxy Buds. While I really like AirPods, I can easily move to something else and not think twice about it.

Right, but don’t you think it makes sense to debut specifically those features if the AirPods 2 were to launch during March 25? My thoughts, there are no AirPods 2 launching during this specific event, given its more focused on services.

Of course I don’t have a specific answer, but it’s very possible they could launch March 25, but I don’t think that’s likely. I’m still willing to believe it could be fall. And yes, they are long overdue for an update, and I definitely think they’re coming in 2019, it’s just not as quickly as we hoped. Apple is so unpredictable with their launches, for example, Macs launches last July and iPads yesterday, nobody saw either of those products launching separately.

Check out UA JBL true wireless. My dad got a pair and I tested them out over the weekend. They are pretty great. He LOVES them. I just ordered a pair. They do not fall out and drop more than Apple.

I hope they do announce at the 25th event. I would still keep my A1's I just bought as I have multiple iPhones and lines and having a pair for each phone would be convenient.

I bet the Galaxy buds are great, I have a pair of IconX 2018 and they are fantastic when used with a Galaxy.

Has anyone sen this? looks like new Airpods with charging case

yep just bought my wireless charging case. says backwards compatible with first gen. so happy about it.

I'm going to buy a new pair of the Airpods with charging case, i love them, this new gen gets "Hey Siri and a new H1 chip" extra talk time and the wireless charging case.

I saw that. I am on the fence on ordering these as I ordered the 1st version 1.5 weeks ago. I guess I’ll just keep the ones I have.

Certainly not enough for me to upgrade mine - I don’t own a wireless charger and the battery life hasn’t deteriorated at all since I have had them.

If they were black I’d be very tempted.

Do the new AirPods have an improved surface coating for better fit and contact with the skin?

I’m on the fence, but if there was different colors I’d be all over the new ones.

I will say that the “hey Siri” function is an improvement for me because that would free up a double tap command on my left bud.

No improvement in sound quality or colors, nothing new really. If you have an AW, do you really need to upgrade to these refreshed Airpods? Do they still plan on releasing Airpods II?

New H1 headphone chip, an extra hour of talk time, 30% lower gaming latency, pairs to devices faster and "Hey Siri"
