New H1 headphone chip, an extra hour of talk time, 30% lower gaming latency, pairs to devices faster and "Hey Siri"

So basically just a new chip, the rest is something a software update could have fixed. Improvement in sound quality should be their priority, they have Beats this shouldnt be too hard.

So what does that really mean? BT 5.0 is not specifically mentioned. I have a pair since 12/2016 release and they still work fine. I'll wait for AirPods 2 or if these die; whatever comes first. Disappointed

not "just" a chip, i think you underestimate Apple's chipset. It's not as if they sound bad anyway, for the size they are great, i like a lot of people use mine every day, a great pair of wireless buds. No wonder they are so popular.

Said I wasn't going to buy unless I saw something worth the extra money. Agh, caved.. however I'll wait and see what reviews come out before cracking the seal on the box. Based on performance information on Apple's website it does look like the new Pods have a much better battery life and connectivity. We shall see if that translates to the same in real life situations.

The press release mentions "The new Apple-designed H1 chip features custom audio architecture to create a revolutionary audio experience and improved synchronization. ", so I guess the audio has been improved. When it comes to Bluetooth, I hope it comes with 5. I am a bit disappointed that they don’t come in black, but...

I too will wait for the reviews. Based on their popularity I think Apple will have lots in stock even after next week. I am in no rush

I ordered mine basically because I have had the originals since day 1 and the batteries were not lasting much more than a couple of hours. I would have purchased another set of AirPods 1 if they didn't introduce anything new but since they did, I jumped in. Is it even possible that they didn't advise all the differences? Highlighting the major changes? Not real worried but being hopeful. I am very happy with the 2 years I got out of the originals.

That would be great and worth the upgrade. I still have the originals and sound quality could be improved. Once the reviews are in, I'll go ahead and upgrade. Hell even in a matt black color I would have upgraded.

Ye, it depends on what Apple means by "audio experience". Is it just the connection between devices or the sound quality as well. I guess we will know soon. I am waiting for mine next week.

sounds like the post above read the whole design specifications for some reason
new product intro's are alway a lot of work

what the hell. i went ahead and ordered them. i'll sell the first gens. no way they do a new pair next year, these were out for damn near 2.5 years before this refresh.

Why has no one mentioned the rubber/silicone strip on the bottom of the new version?
