anyone find it hard to hear music from your AirPods at like 65% volume when you are on the t or are walking around outside?

Do they fit ok? I can only presume they're not sealing in properly.

That or your source material's low in volume?

Have you used Settings > Music > EQ > Late Night. That’s boosts it a bit.

Or,

Is Volume Limit on?

I tend to find that when Sound check is On. It helps for lower volume tracks.

So, when I use them indoors, or in quieter settings, they sound just fine.

I will give this a shot, thanks!

I guess my concern is that I wasn't sure if this was by design because the pods themselves don't seem to block out outside noise, or if this was an issue with my pair. I'm coming from using beatsX which uses tips that help block out noise, so that's kind of what I'm comparing them against

Well they don't have any noise cancelling if that's what you mean, which is why a perfect fit in your ear is important. Any gaps & the sound will escape which will be more noticeable in noisy environments.
