I don't know why people are complaining about repairability. I never bought a pair of headphones at the $200 price mark that I expected would be repairable.

Replacing a battery could extend the life of the earphones. Without the ability to do that, you are essentially renting earphones rather than owning them, and the cost per year is $200/years of battery life.

Ridiculous. Everything has a cost of ownership calculable by useful life divided by total cost. My cordless drill originally cost $199 ten years ago. I bought new batteries twice at $100. Total cost: $399. That’s about $40 per year for something I use once a month on average (so $3 per use).

My airpods lasted 26 months before I upgraded and handed them down to my wife. Cost: $159. I use them almost every day. To be conservative, let’s say 300 days per year. $159/600= $0.27 per use. A comparative bargain.

It would be much more of a bargain if the battery could be replaced. It's not like earphones evolve that much, so keeping them working for longer would be better value and better for the planet. Just my two cetns' worth....
