For me AirPods Pro just don't sound great but that's probably because the tips don't fit my ears. I haven't tried the newer smaller sizes now offered. I also didn't like AirPods 3. The original AirPods design fit and sound much better. I will give AirPods 4 a try.

I haven't had a chance to watch the video reviews yet, but I'm most curious about the fit of these. I have the 1st gen pros that I like, but there are enough situations where I'd prefer the open style of regular Airpods. Airpods 3 were too big for my ears... hoping this "new fit for more people" means a slimmer pod.

Thanks for saving me the price of upgrading from my Airpods 2. I thought the case would have a magnet stick. No go for me since I have upright charger. There's always airpods 5 in a couple years.

For those that may ask. I have a dual charger block at work and need the old school usb-c to lightning for my crappy old work phone. My other connector is a magsafe charger in an upright stand for my iPhone 15 PM. I thought I could stick the Airpods 4 on the magsafe when the phone isnt charging. I dont want to pop out the magsafe every time and lay it down. 1st world problem but airpods 2 are good enough.

I really can care less about influencers rate products like this. Get the product yourself tested and compare for yourself a lot of time.

I find AirPods Pros uncomfortable after a while so prefer normal AirPods

Yep. They don't work for me. They're uncomfortable and the "seal" only lasts about three seconds before they immediately start to fall out. Silicone tips are a no-go.

Honestly, the ANC on the regular AirPods sounds perfect to me. I don't need complete silence. I just need it to reduce that plane or train noise enough that I can actually hear what I'm listening to without turning up the volume to the point of blowing out my eardrums...

I'm excited about the audio improvement but bummed that Apple isn't adding new major features to baseline AirPods since 2016. It should at least come with either ANC or the new Case as standard.
These are the base AirPods now they completely replace those in the line

None of the reviews states whether or not these new Airpods can show battery level at all times like the Airpods Pro 2? I like that feature and would think it comes with the H2 chip?

So basically the AP4 ANC are an enhanced model of AP3 because they have some noise cancellation to take the edge off external noise. The APP2 are still the way to go if you want really good ANC (and/or other features too).

Put another way, I guess the AP4 ANC will seem a significant upgrade over AP3 but will disappoint compared with the APP2 (issues of fit aside).

The non-ANC AP4 are purely a budget model only worth considering if $50 will make a difference to your budget over several years. I am surprised Apple did not call them SE. For most people, there are just two models: APs with some ANC, or APs with really good ANC.

I get that...But it's had the same feature set as it was first introduced. It's like having an iPhone 8 having only the same features as the 1st iPhone.

Did not like MKBHD's review at all (which rarely happens), like sure he's one of a percentage of people who don't fit Airpods but at that point why review it yourself and not have one of his numerous staff members do the testing. Yes ANC is going to be bad if the airpods don't fit you at all and have a bad seal. But that's not very interesting for the people watching the review whose ears are fitting for the airpods since those are the people who're interested in them.
Because he really isn’t a good reviewer. He does decent commentary and his videos have high production value. But honestly he’s not THAT knowledgeable. Hes also pressed Apple on certain things and made comments on shortcomings of products enough that it makes me think the only reason he’s invited to events is his massive subscriber base. It’s pure exposure.

The AirPod 4 for $129 are still a massive improvement in sound over the Airpod 2. Plus some extra battery life.

I think his knowledge is neither here nor there. He is now basically a popular presenter... He has a team behind him to do the research and advise him on what to say.

Yes, I think that is exactly the point of them. Those thinking they will offer APP-level ANC are probably going to be disappointed.

I think these early reviews have not said if they are more or less likely to suit those who prefer the fit of the 2s over the 3s. However, they fell straight out of MKBHDs ears, which does not auger well.

Not sure why you would get these over the pro 2. If you can't afford the $20 difference you shouldn't be spending that much on headphones.
The silicone tips, FindMy case and estimated 1 hour of extra battery life are not worth $70 to most people who can look beyond having "Pro" on the product name. If you compare the 2 on Apple's website, it's pretty clear those are the only major differences. I spent $250 on the first Pros and will not buy them again as they did not meet that price expectation and I cannot run in them with the silicone tips constantly pushing them out of my ears.

There is zero chance the 4 with ANC will outperform the pro 2. Zero. If you prefer the fit, and some people just cant deal with the rubber ear piece, they are a great option but to have good really noise reduction you have to have sound isolation.
