With AirPods Pro on sale for $189 all the time, I kind of feel that it would be a waste to have a version slotted between regular AirPods and AirPods Pro.

Streamline the lineup? Good luck with that. The marketing guys will tell Tim Apple they can increase profit by making 2 new models with stupid names like Ultra and Mega.

If they really wanted to streamline, it’ll be MacBook (no Air) and Pro. Then you upgrade each as you see fit (including the processor).

How is it streamlining the available options if Apple replaces AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 with *two different* models at *two different* pricepoints?
One model will be larger for more battery life and embiggened content, at the cost of comfort and pocketab... uhh, ear-fit-ability. Eventually Apple will cover every market segment as fast as they can arbitrarily split them up: AirPods SE, AirPods, AirPods Air, AirPods Plus, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro Max, AirPods Max mini, AirPods Max, AirPods Ultra, and of course the models from the previous three generations. We recreational CEOs on MacRumors will propose cutting the lineup to six—but usually a slightly different set of six from each other—and complain that half of them still sport USB-C ports.

(What, me bitter? Nahhh...)

Ugh!! No thanks.
If you don't like it just don't buy it, continue buying the white ones.

I wonder why you do not want me and many others to be able to purchase black (dark) AirPods to match the color of our black (dark) iPhones. What's wrong with you?

It would be better if Apple made foam tips or something to stop the Pros falling out. I do not know a single person who actually doesn't have this problem.
Or just copy the ear tips of the Beats Studio buds, the Beat fit pro or if you want the nuclear option go with the Power Beats Pro, those suckers dont fall at all. The Beats models in general stay in vs the AirPods models. Great for running and being active.

For those that don't want to shell out $100+ on the newest AirPods, consider getting the EarPods. I got them a few months ago and they sound great. I still have my AirPods but I never use them anymore and I definitely don't miss them. At $19 the EarPods might be the best value Apple product in the whole lineup.

PLEASE Apple: Bring back the TAP CONTROLS on Airpods 4 and DO NOT add silicon tips.

I tried the Airpods 3 when the batteries on my 2's started giving out. I hated having to pinch the button -- especially when carrying things in my hands (or, most often, my dogs' leashes). I returned them immediately and just bought another pair of the 2's.

Cool. Means Airpods 3 will be at 99$ next Black Friday :) (edit: in the meatime my Airpods 1 should hold, although the left one shows signs of a weaker battery)

I liked the fit of both designs and as a runner I’ve never had an issue. Not once have they fallen out.
I do prefer the look of the 3rd gen, but miss the tapping. Pinching is just not as easy when you’re running.

Can’t wait to see what they do next as I’ve never been interested in the Pro model as I hate in ear tips.

How to do NR if they do not insert into the ear canal? The AirPods are the only AirPods I can use as the do not insert into the canal! Hope they do not change that feature.
