What a cool thing. I have been working on spanish for years and this might help accelerate my practice. What a wonderful time we live in.

At the present, if I ask my HomePod “Hey Siri, where’s my phone?” it replies, “Which one? Mike’s headphones? Or iPhone?” I feel like we’re all just being gaslit at this point.

Not sure I see the point of this. There’s already apps that do this. Why is Apple always chasing the competition? Actually release something nobody else is doing. Set the standard, like you used to! Tim Cook seriously needs to go.

Apple's gone totally to **** lmao!! Can't even make basic software that doesn't crash every 5 minutes anymore. Too busy counting their billions while Tim Cook wastes his time playing Hollywood producer with that Severance garbage. Remember when Apple actually WORKED? What a joke they've become.
WTH are you rambling about? I have been with Apple since the Apple 2 and 128k mac. I have never had ‘crash every 5 minutes’ except when I messed with it. If you’re a troll, go away. If you have constructive criticism then speak it and have proof.

Combine this with the rumored AirPods with cameras, where the cameras could be used for lip reading in addition to microphones for translation that works better.

This will make my job as a retail parts clerk. I get many customers who speak Russian, Korean and Spanish. Instead of using the phone for all of it the pods will do some for me making their experience better. Of course, WHEN it happens.

Can Apple really be trusted with anything they say or promise at this point? Is this vaporware or really coming? What “small print” will this feature have? Stale product lineup, no innovation, need new leadership at Apple willing to take risks & innovate again. It’s sad so sad to see Apple in its current state.

regardless Apple has a BIG trust and leadership issue. You don’t think Apple or those connected to other “media” outlets leak things from Apple sources right or wrong.

First I hope they take a look at the app, every time I use it I have to redownload the offline assets…
Yes. This also happens to me, on iOS and macOS and across different phones and Macs.

It’s a terrible app for trying to learn a new language as it doesn’t do transliteration. I laughed so hard when they did that ad about going to Thailand and using it to learn Thai. It’s useless for that.

Apple is working on q feature that will let the AirPods translate in-person conversations from one language to another, reports Bloomberg. The functionality will be linked to iOS 19, and it will be introduced in an AirPods software update planned for later this year.

The AirPods will be able to provide a simpler translation process for people who are speaking different languages, though the process will rely on the Translate app on the iPhone.

If an English speaker with AirPods is talking to someone who is speaking Spanish, the iPhone will detect the audio, translate the speech, and relay it back in English to the person wearing AirPods. The person speaking English will then be able to respond and have their response translated to Spanish and spoken aloud by the iPhone. Apple's iPhone Translate app can already be used for conversations like this, but having the function included in the AirPods will streamline the exchange.

To go along with the new AirPods feature, Apple is also planning to improve the Translate app in iOS 19, though no details are available at this time. While Apple is working on new AirPods Pro 3 earbuds that are set to launch in 2025, it sounds like Apple might bring the iOS 19 Translate feature to existing models as well.

Apple has been tying AirPods updates to iOS updates in recent years. In iOS 18, for example, Apple added a suite of hearing health capabilities that test for hearing issues and allow the AirPods to be used as a hearing aid if problems are detected.

Like the Galaxy Buds3 Pros do now with One UI 7? Apple should change their logo to a bottle of ketchup.

You can do this today using the Google Translate app.

Samsung phones also already have this feature. It’s called Interpreter. They’ve been advertising this feature for some time.
