Ben, are these the new AirPods?![]()
Has anyone said how you answer a phone call with these?
Is it just a tap to answer? Tap to finish the call?
Is it possible to tap to skip a song?
I read that Siri can skip song and adjust volume.
You can buy it and return it within 14 days. That's what I intend to do if I don't like it. My main concerns will be sound quality and how well it fits my ears.
I think ill use those ropes they use to hold a pair of glasses around your neck. that would work to hold them together
Give it 6 months to a year and these will cost $99 then $79 then i wager they will settle to a measly $49 in a year or two.
Am I the only one who can't get the regular earpods to stay in their ear? Ever since they've changed to them, Apple headphones have been useless to me.
I'll wait for the Best Buy open box pricing.![]()
That's my thoughts as well. At first, I said no to myself for these. Then I actually thought I might enjoy them, but need to test them first. I don't think their overpriced, but it's hard to say if I think their game changers until I can test them for fit and audio quality. I honestly think these will be a hot item when released in October.
If I were to get these, they would become the most expensive kitty toy ever. I know my cat. The moment one of these falls out of my ear, the cat will swat it under the refrigerator before I even know it was missing. It doesn't matter if I lose it in the bathroom. All small swattable things end up under the fridge courtesy of kitteh.
If you're unable to realise that they are about to fall out you should probably not be allowed outside unsupervised.Lots of people are going to lose their Airpods. I wonder how many people will actually re-buy them.
Yes they look good but at the moment with Apple there's always a but,.No playback controls/gestures on the AirPods themselves makes this a non-starter for me.
I'm not interested in looking like a crazy person trying to "ask Siri to go to the next track" in public and pulling my phone out and fumbling around was long ago "sucky" (thus the inline mic/controls on wired models being so great...)
These are too expensive and don't replicate the features of the super cheap wired models they are supposedly "better than" - At least not for my usages anyhow.
Yes I think they're going too far that way now. Yes they are works of art to look at but where are the controls?? I'm not talking to SiriMeanwhile, in an alternate universe, Apple make the best looking wireless earphones you'll ever hope to see.
"Ugh, only 5 hours battery life? Form over function. Jony Ive strikes again."
If you're unable to realise that they are about to fall out you should probably not be allowed outside unsupervised.
I think we're going to going to see a firmware update next year that will change the control scheme. My impression is that Apple wants to crowdsource as much (anonymized) motion data from the Airpods in real life scenarios so they can work out an algorithm that will distinguish between accidental motion (pot holes for example) and an actual tap of the device.Yes they look good but at the moment with Apple there's always a but,.
If you can double tap to activate Siri surely you could programme tap sequences for different tasks
Eg on right EarPods 1 tap to increase volume three for down
On left 1 tap to skip, three for back etc etc
Apple must be able to do it
Existing controls are excellent so Apple PLEASE just substitute taps for clicks
- Increase playback volume: Press the +button.
- Decrease playback volume: Press the –button.
- Play or pause a song or video: Press the center button once. Press again to resume playback.
- Skip to the next song or chapter: Press the center button twice quickly.
- Return to the previous song or chapter:Press the center button three times quickly.
- Fast-forward: Press the center button twice quickly and hold.
- Rewind: Press the center button three times quickly and hold.
- Record a voice memo: Launch Voice Memos and press the center button. Press it again to pause or resume.
May be a but cumbersome but apple ahhhhn I love the control on my EarPods when I'm in bed or lounging my on the setee
I'm not going to speak to Siri and wake upmmynwifevwhen I want to play the next somg

Let's see how these perform in comparison with each other shall we?Have to say these are pretty ugly and dorky looking. How come tables seem to be turning? Samsung has the more premium (and more expensive!) option in the Gear Icon X

They don't have to both be in to work. You can use one or the other. But if using both, playback will automatically stop when they are removed from one ear and resume when re-inserted.
Is it just me, or do the new wireless headphones look like tampons?
My favorite complaint is "the current EarPods don't fit in my ear so these won't either." So? Not everyone can wear skinny jeans or hats because they don't fit. Not everyone can eat peanut butter because of allergies or meat because they are a vegetarian. Apple is making these items for the largest number of people possible. Sorry you feel left out, but no one is forcing you to use the AirPods and no one is saying that you're up the creek if you can't use them. Apple is literally giving you the option to keep using what you have been using by including an adapter in the box.
The only legitimate complaint is the charging and playing music at the same time, but there are work arounds for now until a better solution appears.
It is good that these support AAC over BT. Not a whole lot of BT Headsets do.
