Apple Watch is your solution there.
I think you mean: Apple Watch is A solution for those who already own one and who are wearing it. Surely you're not suggesting an AirPod buyer also buy a $300+ wrist-based volume control device, right?

Getting back to reality, the AirPods really do need inline volume/track controls without Siri. I'm still going to buy them and I'll be annoyed when I have to pull out my phone (or reach for it, since it's not always on me while listening to Bluetooth audio), but the convenience of truly wireless earbuds combined with very easy charging and pairing and exceptional battery life, I'm going to love them. We'd only be a software update away from a nearly perfect product for me.

I'm looking forward to seeing my first pair in the field, shouting at the wearer and watching them fly off both ears as they spin around.

I won't really do that as it would be mean, you rake my point though.

I just wish I could preorder them so that I don't have to worry about buying them right at release and facing massive back orders.

Me too. I am hanging out in the MacBook Pro order thread. I need a new thread to hang out in waiting for these!

My guess is battery issues. Not battery life issues but "we want to make sure we don't have a Note 7 problem" battery issues.

That's all Apple would need, these things blowing up ear canals.

I think that's a partial solution. For volume, AW is probably the best solution. But for skipping tracks which I do all the time, tapping the airpod would be a lot faster. Apple should offer customization options for what x number of taps can do for right and left AirPods.

For example, double tap right earpiece for Siri, single tap left earpiece to skip a track and double tap to go back a track.

Did anyone else notice that apple.com updated BeatsX today in the store to include a "Coming this Fall at..." (with store names and option to check other stores?

I am thinking they're about to launch.

It has said simply "Coming this Fall" all this time, and now a change.

I don't see that...

Have third parties started making any attachments to make the Airpods more secure?
The couple of tech reviewers I pay attention to who have pre-release ones, say they've jumped, danced, and run around quite a bit while wearing the AirPods and have had zero problems with them falling out. I'd wait for actual reviews before putting too much effort into trying to fix a problem that might not exist. Certainly third-party companies will made attachments, but that doesn't mean such things are necessary.

they literally have always said that since being on the website viewed on a mac or pc. on mobile it just says "coming this fall"

Crazy idea. What if you had magnetic pierced earrings that could create sort of a MagSafe bond with your Air Buds? Maybe a little chain, whatever.

Didn't the Apple store site used to say that the BeatsX were coming in other colors as well and the black and white or was I dreaming?

A
these look so stupid.

im going to laugh at you.
and I am laughing at you, with wires getting trapped everywhere, whilst munching Aubergine.

Ugly like hell, they look like sperm sticking out from the ear lol
Well you didn't wear AirPods yet, but I am glad you know what you look like in the other situation, interesting that you looked in the mirror after.....

Is not like they did give us any option at all to keep us going for a bit (lighting earpods and 3.5mm adapter)

Lightning EarPods can't be used with anything else, except some iOS devices. So the only option is a customer's old 3.5mm headphones with the added inconvenience of an adapter. And, this has been going on for over 2 and 1/2 months since the iPhone 7 was released. Now it's looking more like mid-December to early January. So that's 3 1/2 to 4 months after the first iPhone that removed the headphone jack was released.

Think about that, for the person that upgrades their iPhone every year, the very headphone products that make using the iPhone 7 practical NOW, will likely not be available for 1/3 of the phone's life for that customer. And if they are released in January, but can't meet demand, that means a person who bought their iPhone 7 in September may have to wait 5 or 6 months to get them. That's half the life of the phone using an adapter with their old headphones.

I'm sorry I don't care how you slice it, or how successful the iPhone 7 ends up being, that's simply unacceptable for such an important milestone in the development of the iPhone.
