I really don't care much about Adaptive Audio, nor I'd wager does the average person.

I find Adaptive Audio to be something that should be good but in practice... for example my AirPods in the car (not the max), when driving along I tend to sing along to songs when the mood strikes... got to turn off adaptive audio for that. And at home when a news story is particularly irritating I invariably have a verbal comment to make to no one there, and .. there goes my volume lol

If they have a full M2 chip on an iPad, they can put a H2 chip on the AirPod Max’s. Why continue to put resources in producing the H1 chip, especially if they may drop the older 2nd gen AirPods.

If they figure out a way to drop the weight…I’d love them.

For now they are the best for an hour and then I’m using the Bose QC Ultra or the Sony XM5. Yes I use different headphones usually dependent on the album.

It’s just a joke now. A $600 device will have a 5 years old chip, while a device that is half the price will get the latest chip? Apple, what are you thinking? It’s really disappointing.

I've had mine for almost two years and there are zero issues with my headband. You must be doing something to them.

I have had mine since release, so a bit more than 3 years, and yes my headband mesh has gotten noticeably softer. I dont do anything strange to it but do travel a lot with them. Shrugs. Doesn't matter to me, I didn't notice any discomfort and had to physically check the first time I heard about the issue. To me its real, but without consequence so it wont stop me from upgrading. Congrats on yours doing better.

I do remember when the APM were released a lot of people said they were waiting for the lighter (cheaper) version. They are still waiting. I guess Apple figures out if you need lighter you can buy Beats?

Nothing if course except:
Port/cable
ANC is an awesome feature when you’re on a plane and have infants around you…

I have three pairs of high-end wired headphone, two of which are closed-back and offer some passive noise cancellation, but I won't act like it's anything compared to ANC. For me what AirPods Max lack is lossless playback and an ability to be used passively as a wired headphone. If they added these features, I'd get one now. But it sounds like we'll get a four-year update that consists of nothing but a port change. Very disappointing...

I sometimes miss the "old" analog days when you bought a high quality pair of headsets that lasted over a decade, no charging, battery replacement ...
I mean they still sell them. Get some DT 770s and an adapter and live out your analog dreams ✨

Nah, they need a clean-slate redesign. I'd consider buying them again, but they need to be substantially lighter and more comfortable for long listening sessions. I feel like Apple put too much focus on making the AirPods Max look, feel, and sound "premium" at the expense of making them rather bulky to travel with or listen for a couple hours.

Remember the iPhone 5c, Apple? Get some of that Unapologetically Plastic™ and lighten these things up.

It'll have adaptive audio, but like most Apple Music features, it'll be browser-only.

I have a really hard time believing that apple would sell ultra premium $550 headphones that lack features they have in headphones 10% of the size and half the price.

If they do this that it really is a sign that they are moving down the wrong path. It would be shockingly stupid and bad.

I don't really know how people are ruining their head band

Mine is still perfect and I've been using these for .. nearly 2 years I think?

Im on my second pair of them after the first one died unexpectedly- going to need a lot of changes/updates to get a new version

What they need the most is to find a way to address the condensation issue that leads to pretty much bricking the headphones (typing this while wearing my 6th(!!) pair).

There is a zero percent chance this rumor is accurate...
Agreed

Absolutely no way that Apple would keep a lot of the elements of the next APM the same after not touching them since release

They would be silly to change only the charging port and then not touch nothing else about them

And I've had mine for a little longer and my headband's still fine too

Then again, I use mine only for travel mainly (their noise cancelling has worked wonders on plane trips), but they have served me quite well

Absolutely no way that the next gen AirPods Max would skimp on such features the APPs 2 now has

These have sat untouched for so long and if there can be more than just the port change from lightning to USB-C, I'll be there day 1 with these

I’ve never wanted to call BS on a rumor in my 15-20 years of reading MR than this one. There’s absolutely no way Apple will not update its flagship headphones to not include features the AirPods Pro have for half the price over a year ago. I don’t buy this rumor at all.
I agree

Yes, I get it, the APM is wildly more expensive compared to the regular and pro AirPods, but to leave something untouched for this long is just ludicrious to me
