I was an early convert to the AirPods Max, and think the lack of a refresh is getting ridiculous. The Pro now offers superior audio, despite it’s extremely tiny speakers. The good thing is that the Max has been extremely durable. If it breaks, I can’t see myself getting another one without a full hardware refresh to match the capability of the Pro. I just might be tempted to switch to Sony or Bose headphones for the over-ear form of headphones.

Not having the AirPods Pro 2 feature set would be knuckle headed - adaptive audio is great. While I don't use my AirPods Max out in the world like I use my AirPods Pro 2, and therefore wouldn't personally need Adaptive in the AirPods Max, I think it would be odd to not have that feature in the more expensive headset.

My Airpods Max constantly have connection issues. Over priced and not the best quality. Shocked they're not doing a bigger upgrade

I’ve never wanted to call BS on a rumor in my 15-20 years of reading MR than this one. There’s absolutely no way Apple will not update its flagship headphones to not include features the AirPods Pro have for half the price over a year ago. I don’t buy this rumor at all.
I believe the AirPods Pro would be their flagship and the AirPods Max are just bigger, more expensive AirPods. I think that the Apple Pencil is a great example of how they feel about price ladders on their accessories.

I’m happy with my current Max. I also bought the Pro 2 months ago in preparation for the Vision Pro. Since I got it, I haven’t used my Max, as I used primarily to watch movies and shows in my Apple TV. Now I am watching movies on the Vision Pro.

And we think you're gonna love it!

APM 2 = Mac OS Snow Leopard

What stops you from doing that today? I mean, you don’t have to buy anything like these.
True but note that to use wired headphones with iPhone/iPad, one would need a dongle too, preferably a Y-split that can allow simultaneous charging.

At a minimum these need to have feature parity with the Beats Studio Pro (lossless, 40 hour battery, etc.). Even now the situation is ridiculous; if they release a second-generation version that's still behind the Beats, it'd be completely absurd.

Lossless audio support would be nice too, even if it's only via wire.
Lossless is coming out to the android side of things with the new Qualcomm bluetooth chipset. So expect higher end headphones to have them. Honestly no way the Max 2 dont get that feature.

I sometimes miss the "old" analog days when you bought a high quality pair of headsets that lasted over a decade, no charging, battery replacement ...
I never had a pair last more than a few years because the cord would be the first thing to go if they didn't yank them off my head and bust on the ground first.

Adaptive Audio makes great sense on Airpods, which can be used for listening assistance etc. Makes no real sense at all on big 'over the head' phones. No one is going to sit at the dinner table wearing APM and trying to join in the conversation.

I've had the APM's since release. IMHO, great, great headphones! However, if the APM2 are missing theses features AND only include the USB C, my prediction is DOA... Unless the drop the price to around $199... And even then...

I call "Bunk!" on this rumor!

IF the APM2 have all of these changes, better battery, new colors and USB C, first day purchase!

I think we’re going to see two Max’s. A lower priced version of Gen 1 with the only change being Usbc, and then an updated version that is the Gen 2 with an H2 (or 3) chip in it.

Apple released the Beats Pro as a lower price alternative. Really hard to seem them keeping version 1 at a lower price with just usb-c.

Low Latency would be the killer feature. No other wireless Headphone has that yet. This is important for all video snd audio creators in the world, regardless which OS they are using

I refuse to believe these and other rumors. They will likely physically look the same so the supply chain can't be much help. But I don't see how they don't get the H2 (or newer chipset) and support for lossless playback over USB-C. Especially because the Beats Studio Pro offers some of that today.
I agree. There's no way that Apple would release a second-gen AirPods Max with the only difference being a USB-C port. I suspect these rumours have been put out intentionally to catch the leakers. It's the only thing that makes sense!
